Event Description

“Films of Vision and Hope” – How to Live More Sustainably by Building Community
Palo Alto, CA (Transition Palo Alto) A free film series will be offered by three Silicon Valley groups on five consecutive Fridays (February 19 through March 19, 7:30 – 9:30 pm) in Palo Alto. Sponsored by Silicon Valley Action Network, Transition Palo Alto and Transition Silicon Valley, the series will culminate in an open forum to engage community members in discussing how communities can take steps towards sustainable solutions. Bart Anderson of Transition Palo Alto says the films are a "fun way to get together, see what's happening, and do something about it in our community." Pam Salvatierra of Silicon Valley Action Network adds “a participatory forum will be held on March 19 to envision and launch community efforts and sustainable solutions as well as support existing projects.”
The films will be shown at Acterra at 3921 East Bayshore Road in Palo Alto and include:
• The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil Friday, 2/19
• The Yes Men Fix the World Friday, 2/26
• What's the Economy for, Anyway? Friday, 3/5
• In Transition Friday, 3/12
• Participatory forum on ideas for our community Friday, 3/19
All are invited to this free film series and the venue is wheelchair accessible. Directions and additional information can be found at
