Hosting Conversations about Questions that Matter

Here is a set of Café Cards in a 4X6" format that I often use prior to beginning a Café conversation. Sets of these quote cards are placed on each table. Participants are invited to pick out a card that they have an affinity with or that speaks to them in a special way. Each participant reads his/her selected quote card to each other and also shares why they chose this particular card. This is a great way to get folks thinking about the power of coversation and sets the tone for an engaging Café experience.
Let me know what you think.

Hello Donald,

Thanks for these cards. I have used cards with a picture or drawing on them as starters in other settings -conversation, training, course - but have never thought of using cards for a World Café.
I will be using them pretty soon.

Warm regards,
Eugene Boeldak
Thanks, Eugene! And let me know how this activity fits into your work.
Don I like the idea. I will give it a try. Thank you for sharing.

Don, thank you so much for your generosity. The content of each card is indeed thought provoking and stimulate the conversation. What a great resource to use! Thank you again.
Hello Don,

I just briefly read your cards. They are a great tool. I use cards in my practice with individual clients. In cafe dialog, I usually provide each participant with a full sheet of paper with the Q on top and encourage them to add their thoughts and feelings. Adding a proverb or quote might be powerful. Thanks for that....
Your welcome, Elaine!
I see a future for these cards in my organization! Thank you!
Great! Let me know how it goes. Feedback is important.
Hi Don

Just noticed your cards! Great contribution!

A suggested additional card..... Never doubt the power of a small group of people to change the world...Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has! Margaret Mead
Thanks, David. Love that quote, too. Hope all is well with you & Juanita.

Dear friend,

I am a member of the World Cafe Community. I am currently doing the World Cafe Fundamental Course from Fielding (online).

I am very keen to establish a culture of listening to children ( respecting their right to be heard) in India and elsewhere. Amy Lenzo the Course Coordinator says you have some experience in doing Cafe's with children. I would love to hear from you of your own experience and and that of any others. Please keep me in the loop. Augustine. my email id augustinevj@gmail dot com.
