The tagline and what I deduce as the main tenet of this book is interesting to me. My guess is this book establishes a value system and methodology from which to deal with all of life's challenges. Is this the case? Or is the text more specific about resolving conflict and dealing with uncertainty? Interesting!
I'm not entirely clear how to distinguish between a "value system and methodology" and "resolving conflict and dealing with uncertainty". In some ways it does both and in others, it does neither. The book offers a pattern of change - that begins with disruption; practices drawn from experiences of working with practices, such as World Cafe and Open Space; and a set of principles that are an integration of the deeper patterns of such practices and the dynamics of emergence as expressed by a number of scientists.
If I haven't sufficiently answered your question, ask another!
The book draws on experiences of working with World Cafe, Open Space, ect. and defines a set of principals which are the sum of patterns observed through such practices(practices being world cafe, etc.).
Yes, that's part of it. The book also draws from what scientists have been teaching us about the dynamics of emergence - often stated as qualities like "no one is in charge" and things organize via "simple rules". I put that together with what whole system practices have taught us. Since emergence happens in social systems, just as in biological systems, I am using both what nature teaches us and what experience in social systems using whole system processes teaches us to better understand emergence in social systems. Not to mention why it matters.
Does that help? I appreciate you continuing to seek clarity. :-)
