What if change meant a sustainable world in harmony for all beings to succeed both locally and globally?
Can rethinking and changing the design, implementation and use urban landscapes contribute to a harmonious and sustainable world valued by both current and future generations?
Is it true that everything we do matters?
Our landscapes in our communities are our commons dream… they’re their because we all think them to be the way they are.
The Context...
Considering the limitations of our precious resources and understanding that local communities are interconnected to all global communities...
We ask this question…How can new designs, new implementations, and new uses of our urban landscapes better serve present and future generations?
I would have to say that it is not only the case that everything we do matters, but everything we think and the ways we process and express our thoughts matter. We are at a time in our history when we, as a species, need to explore new ways of being and new ways of interacting with each other and our environment. Urban landscapes are a wonderful space in which to do some of these explorations.
If we all know, for example, that spaces containing natural greenery, trees, open space and gently moving water add to our sense of calm and serenity, isn't this what we should be placing throughout our urban areas? Imagine having an oasis every 3 or 4 blocks within a large city, devoid of commerce and free to be enjoyed by all. Just imagine.
