Hi there,

During the introduction I introduced people to a lovely bell which would ring when it was time to change the discussion to another conversation question and/or move tables. This worked very well and was a gentle way of breaking into conversations which were flowing.

I am organizing a program in Anaheim, CA on Sunday, June 24 from 1:30-3:30pm at the the American Library Association Annual Conference. The program is called Cultural Programming: How to Achieve Meaningful Dialogue at Your Library. I am looking for an additional panel member who will talk about The World Cafe and how librarians can use your philosophy to engage diverse patrons in conversations that matter. You would be asked to speak for 15 minutes with Q&A.

If you are interested, please contact me and we can talk further. My email address is [email protected]
Thanks Charlotte.tag:www.theworldcafecommunity.org,2012-03-05:3306069:Comment:753752012-03-05T14:26:08.005ZWanda Kolomyjechttp://www.theworldcafecommunity.org/profile/WandaKolomyjec

I always give them a warning.... 5 minutes 2 minutes... and then when the time is up..... I ask them to wind down their conversations... finish what you are saying and we will transition.

I want to honor conversation so I am not inclined to announce a change without some warning and time to wind down. When the room conversation is nearly diminished... I say 15 seconds and we will change tables.
