Hi everyone!

I'm curious about who in this group is hosting online now, and what you're doing... Let's use this space!

Personally I'm VERY excited about the "real time" Hybrid World Cafe on the Central Garden I'm co-hosting with Steve Cady this weekend (see more details in the Community Calendar).

Hybrid events (happening simultaneously both onsite and online) offer great challenges to learn from and great opportunities for connection and engagement, and I think we're still learning how to do them really well. Let me amend that - I'M still learning how to do them well. :-)

I have the feeling this one is going to be a lot of fun ...

First of all, my co-host (who is currently curating the 3rd edition of The Change Handbook) is on fire about the Central Garden metaphor that Juanita Brown coined to talk about who we are together as a field, whatever the "doorway" or "method" we walk through to enter it ...  and David Isaacs and Frances Baldwin and Steve Piersanti are the "conversation starters" who will lead us off in our World Cafe.

On another note, I'm offering four Online Hosting Practicums over the next week and a half (also listed here in the Community Calendar) where people can bring their interests and questions and projects and get some support and/or practice their online hosting skills. I just finished the first one, where World Cafe host Nathalie Jaumin and I worked on a client brief to gather people together online for more exploration after they've been through an onsite World Cafe together.

Our conversation peaked my interest in how we who are actively engaged in this work can continue to learn together. Let's share what we know and co-evolve this fabulous new field together!

Don't forget the upcoming monthly Community Cafe on June 14th...

These Cafes offer a great opportunity not only to connect with others in the World Cafe international community, but also to practice your online hosting skills - join the hosting team by contacting Michaela Sieh.

Hi everyone -

I just realized you may not know about a training I'm offering that is custom-made for people in this group. It's called Hosting in the Digital Realm - four two-hour sessions about "how to" host interactive, participatory online engagements using World Cafe as a archetypal pattern. So it's not about how to host World Cafe per se, but if you are already a World Cafe host, you'll learn how to translate what you know into the online medium.

Some of the focus of the course will be energy work - about getting your head and breath in the right place to host in an online environment; some of it will be about what connects us to each other and to our physical environments so we don't fall into the trap of abstraction and disconnection in this medium, some of it will be practical hands-on work with the best technology options for hosting World Cafe, and we'll also cover other logistical details it takes to do this kind of work.

The course is offered within an alternative economy model so there are options for any situation - so there is no reason to let money hold you back.

It would be great to see you there.

For overview information and a link to register.

For more information on the contents of each session.

This is so cool. Ben! I love what you're doing with this medium... I'll join the conversation as I can - I'm going to be traveling for a few weeks and have a lot to do before leaving - but this is clearly an important conversation.

Sparked in part by the "mycelial cafe" conversation in this group, I am now in the midst of hosting a national conversation "experiment" through Oct 31st on Poverty and Wealth in America, with an emerging focus on the connection to race

It's a hybrid process combining in-person, online and live virtual venues for small group conversations and full group harvesting.

Even though we're on Round Two already, YOU are all invited (part of the experiment is how it can work to come into this in the middle). Get started here:

Just in case people missed it, there is now a discussion thread on one version of this idea of re-imagining the WC form to take advantage of the different ways that time and space can be navigated using online tools (both live and asynch).

No Amy, I haven't done any kind of online interactive events. I - or better we, our little online hosting team for AoH, have learned that people still like to use email for their main sharing. Our Ning site has become more as an archive, for videos, documents and also harvests from previous (email) conversations.

Hey Ria! So SWEET to see your face and hear your voice... What kind of fun have you been up to lately? Anything in the realm of online interactive events, World Cafe or otherwise?

@Ben Answer is yes. ;-)
