Where do we go from here?

Where do we go from here?

There is a challenge in creating a movement for positive change. In contemplating the roll out of a change in the organizational structure of a country there are some very simple, albeit challenging, processes involved. Traditionally movements stem from an individual or small collective of dedicated individuals. Today, many are capable and willing to initiate change themselves, though they aren’t necessarily connected. Across the country, small groups of people are gathering to share their skill sets as they collaborate toward building better communities and eventually a nation.

As a strategist with a background in project and organizational management, I’ve had a passion and penchant for putting people, places and things together to do some pretty cool stuff. I’ve had some success in a variety of industries: aerospace; building, road and bridge construction; education; entertainment; and special events. I’ve found happy people with the right tools and training get more done with less supervision. It’s almost a flat-line organizational structure organically evolving in an effort to serve the needs of the job, which I’ve called ‘jobarchy.’ It inspires collaboration.

I’m going to dive in to talking about the nuts and bolts of progressive change. From an organizational standpoint, it takes clusters or groups of dedicated individuals strewn across the country. Those clusters or nodes are connected through a network, whether intranet or internet, and able to access profiles, portfolios and projects that combine co-working, complementary skillsets and even incubator-type environments. I created a co-working and incubator space rationale with statistics for a municipality you can find here.

Meeting the Challenge in Creating a Movement

As diverse as the playing field may be, like the 12-sector co-creation wheel used by the Humanity’s Team and Thrive organizations, the capacity for organizing local groups rests in the self-initiated, those who are driven to find, facilitate and support practical mysticism in their local communities. I say ‘practical mysticism’ because the process embraces awareness of and conscious behaviors within community action. The experience is sometimes akin to the ‘Law of Attraction’ on steroids as people, places and things seem to magically appear to those who are actively and selflessly serving the cause.

To date there have been numerous online and on-ground communities that have been attempting to gather like-minded folks together, but the obvious self-centered activity seems to be driving the bus. The notion of leadership seems to be stuck in last century ideas of competition, control and submission. Heretics are still not tolerated when the status quo needs the bar raised or their heart-drives upgraded. Every question needs to be better than the last and they all have answers that guide progress, some of them ripping apart the operating system in place.

I coined a term over a decade ago that seemed perfect in relationship to describing the ultimate structure of project management: jobarchy – the job is the boss and everyone wins. Personal and hidden agendas have no place in the process and impede progress of the challenge in creating a movement. There is no Ego without WEgo in such instances as the progress occurs at the speed of surrender to it. The synergy of best practices across multiple platforms is facilitated by leaders who practice this understanding, ultimately being able to combine authority and conviction that guides by example.

Result in Action

The challenge in creating a movement begins with cooperation. What we are ultimately seeking to do is facilitate a change in the power structure of our country, putting the people back in the picture instead of the corporatocracy and profit-driven agendas. How we do that is up to each one of us and our willingness to step up to the challenge. Fearlessness in the face of challenge is a key factor; not that we ignore the potential risks, but we develop plans and strategies that eliminate the potential risk by making them so profoundly logical that the sense made common naturally removes all concerns. That takes a lot of preparation, applying knowledge and understanding of the hard and soft skills of organizational management.

On a practical political no-nonsense level, the results are driven by developing support for those who (by their demonstration) have proven moral and ethical behavior beyond question in their communities. These proven vetted leaders, provided they are willing, are perfect to place in political positions in order to guide their communities and engage their constituents in making better decisions. Cash is no longer king… data is divine. Research and technology are key components of creating consistent and clear communication that can be shared across intelligence levels… making sense even more common.

Now we’re faced with creating the impetus for people to get involved; get out of their homes and join in the process. Festivals have long been a community favorite and draw folks out for the opportunity for fun and enjoyment of a variety of activities, education and entertainment… edutainment if you will. Festivals of all kinds have been a part of our lives for as long as I can remember. Well-crafted and strategically planned events can and do provide opportunities for the collection of data and interested individuals for further engagement.

Whether or not the strategy for change is implemented on a large scale remains to be seen. For now, just the explanation of it seeds the thoughtmosphere for those who might feel attracted to such a purpose. I’m well aware that some concepts and possibilities are ahead of their time, yet over time they find their way into the world and become amazingly effective. Perhaps this can be so for our country and world eventually. Sense made common includes the move toward harmony among people and planet.

Thanks for letting me into your hearts and minds for the moment.

Renewable Energy

Copenhagen has cut CO2 emissions by about 40% since 2005, and is on a four-part mission, including 100% renewable energy (100RE), to achieve carbon-neutrality: Copenhagen's 2025 Climate Plan. This Plan includes: a 100RE goal, energy efficiency and waste reduction goal, green mobility goals, and a strategic implementation of the aforementioned goals by having city government lead first in all sustainability goals. Copenhagen's over-arching goal is to become a 100% carbon-neutral capital by 2025.

Copenhagen is expanding the use of, and investing in, all types of renewable energy. One particularly innovative citywide measure involves the creation of a renewable energy source, biogas, from household sewage. Copenhagen’s sewage treatment plants separate biomass fluids with potential to create biogas from household wastewater. Next, the plants treat the potential renewable energy source, filtering potential biogas sources to remove ammonia, sulfides, and other toxic elements found in sewage. Then, the biogas source left over is converted entirely to methane through gasification, and is mixed with natural gas from other sources in Denmark to produce gas for the city. Among other uses, like heating, a substantial amount of cooking in Copenhagen uses this renewable energy gas source.

Denmark is one of the first countries in the world that implemented an environmental law, and since then, the environment has become one of the priorities of city planning. At present, Copenhagen is powered by renewable energy, mainly wind energy (and offshore wind farms), solar, and some fossil fuel sourced energy. The city of Copenhagen plans to replace its coal plants with biomass, as well as add to the existing sustainable energy resources in the city. The share of renewable energy as a source of energy in Denmark is projected to increase, as energy consumption in Denmark from coal and gas continues to fall (as illustrated in the following chart).

Copenhagen also has the largest heating network in the world where waste heat from power plants is utilized to keep buildings warm with district heating. In addition, water from the city harbor is utilized to cool various buildings in the city, such as office buildings, data centers, hotels, and department stores, adding to the environmentally-friendly nature of HVAC in buildings throughout Copenhagen. Copenhagen requires all new buildings in the city to conform to strict green building standards, in striving for reducing heat and electricity consumption, and increasing the energy efficiency of, commercial and residential buildings.

Sustainable Transportation

The country of Denmark has proposed to ban the sale of new diesel and gas cars from 2030 on, in an effort to promote electric vehicles. City officials in Copenhagen are trying to improve public and mass transport systems in Copenhagen, and at the same time, promote the use of bicycles as a means of traveling from one place to another. Cycling is already as popular as car use in Copenhagen, but the city sees cycling as becoming the dominant form of transit. They also want to reduce the use of private cars.

In general, Denmark already has substantial renewable energy and green transport infrastructure in place. The city’s rail, airport, and suburbs are connected to the center via the metro system. The bus fleet in Copenhagen is being converted to run using biofuel, and the city hopes that by 2025, most of the vehicles used in the city run on hydrogen, electricity, bioethanol, and biogas. Denmark is getting 200 hydrogen buses as part of the EU's big push for hydrogen buses, the H2BusEurope program.

The city council of Copenhagen hopes that the majority of travels will be done by foot, public transit, or bicycles by 2025. The city is relatively small, and that’s why it is easy to use a bike to get around. Plus, the city provides safe bike lanes that are separated from road traffic. Copenhagen has installed green wave traffic lights and constructed new bike lanes, as well as improved current ones. At present, 35% of people use their bikes to go to work or school in Copenhagen.\Visitors can use one of the free city bikes that have been offered all across Copenhagen in the city's bikeshare program since 1995.

Copenhagen Public-Private Green Initiatives

Copenhagen has several public-private partnerships that have helped with its sustainable employment and eco-innovation. The city works with universities, organizations, and companies to develop and improve green growth. During the past decade, the city invested in making the harbor area as clean as possible. Cleaning the harbor has allowed Copenhagen to create jobs, generate revenue, and improve local business life. These are just some of the benefits that the city got through its sustainable initiatives. Today, people can swim in the harbor, which has crystal clear water.

Aside from the swimming spots in the harbor area, Copenhagen has various beaches that include the long white sands of Amager Beach. North of the center are the popular beaches of Hellerup Strand and Bellevue Strand. Part of the success that Copenhagen is experiencing in terms of its green campaigns is due to the fact that city officials engage their constituents. This makes people feel that they are part of the solution. Urban green solutions have been implemented on a large scale and utilized by everyday people. The city pioneered green programs such as tax and rebates and reductions when switching to hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles, and financial incentives to recycle plastic bottles. There’s always an eco-friendly alternative for anything in the city.

Copenhagen was voted as Europe’s Green Capital by the European Environment Commission. The city is known as a world leader when it comes to clean technology, sustainable buildings, and clean businesses. Copenhagen is dominated by green spaces, and open spaces and parks, such as the Tivoli Gardens. The city practices what it preaches and its citizens truly live in a green paradise.

There are many reasons that you should read. We tell our children what they need to read, because this is an important part of their education. But if you were in higher education at all, you probably had times when you really were burned while reading.

But regardless of whether you are a child or an adult, there are many reasons why you should read regularly. The benefits are the same regardless of how young or old you are. Here are some of the main reasons why you should read.

If you are worried that your brain is becoming lazy or stressful, you should read it more often. Reading does more for your brain than say, browsing the Internet or watching TV, because you need to focus and think more about how you do it.

Your brain usually fills the images, and also helps you to be more creative when you read. Your imagination expands, and you can be more creative in many areas of your life.

Reading and Essay Writing Communication

Reading widens our horizons. We can learn about things we never knew before. We can get into a culture or a world we never studied ourselves. We are exposed to a way of life that we may never have considered on our own. Thus, our tolerance and empathy for others are expanding and being built.

Reading helps your writing skills. It's true! If you read a lot, it is very likely that you also know how to write a synthesis essay or other paper. (If not, I as a college writer at WuzzupEssay.com will be happy to help you with this). This is because it can help you expand your vocabulary. You will learn more words, which means that your letter can be more fluid and more understandable. Many people who end up earning a living were greedy readers in their youth, and many of them continue to read during their adult life.

Reading That Benefits

Similarly, speaking skills of a person will also improve if they like reading on a regular basis. Your vocabulary will expand, and you will also be more inclined to speak with the correct grammar. You will also better organize your thoughts before you start talking out loud.

It has been said that many children and adults have greater self-confidence when read on a regular basis. It strongly depends on the types of books that you read, but if you read books that make you feel empowered and ready to move forward in your life, you will feel that your self-esteem is better.

Despite the fact that all this does not happen with everyone who reads regularly, they are all very common. So, if it's been a while since you read your last book, why do not you pick it up right now? With all these benefits, you know that it's worth the time and effort that you put into it! What are you reading now?
Community Radio related two BNNRC Initiative recognized as the Champions in UN World Summit on the Information Society (UN WSIS) Prizes 2019tag:www.theworldcafecommunity.org,2019-02-19:3306069:BlogPost:1290082019-02-19T15:02:55.000ZAHM Bazlur Rahmanhttp://www.theworldcafecommunity.org/profile/AHMBazlurRahman

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum is a global United Nations (UN) multistakeholder platform facilitating the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines for advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is co-organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD, in close collaboration with all WSIS Action Line co-/facilitators and other UN organizations (UNDESA, FAO, UNEP, WHO, UN Women, WIPO, WFP, ILO, WMO, ITC, UPU, UNODC, UNITAR, UNICEF and UN Regional Commissions). It represents the world's largest annual gathering of the ‘ICT for development’ community. It provides an opportunity for information exchange, knowledge creation and sharing of best practices, while identifying emerging trends and fostering partnerships, taking into account the evolving Information and Knowledge Societies. In follow up to the outcomes of the UN General Assembly Overall Review of the Implementation of WSIS Outcomes (Res. A/70/125) and with the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (Res. A/70/1), the WSIS Forum is constantly evolving and strengthening the alignment between the WSIS Action Lines and the Sustainable Development Goals.

In 2019, WSIS will celebrate its 10th anniversary of the establishment of WSIS Forum from April 8 to 12, under the theme “Information and Communication Technologies for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals”. WSIS Forum thereby continues to provide a platform for a “just and equal information society” for all WSIS Stakeholders as set by the Geneva Plan of Action.

It would be mentioned that BNNRC won the WSIS Award in 2016 as the winner and champion of 2017. BNNRC has been chosen for this award on account of its creative thinking, critical analysis, strong leadership and exceptional innovation of community media sector contributing towards voices of the voiceless people in rural Bangladesh.
Bangladesh NGOs Network for Radio and Communication (BNNRC) in United Nations SDG Media Compacttag:www.theworldcafecommunity.org,2019-02-10:3306069:BlogPost:1288062019-02-10T17:09:34.000ZAHM Bazlur Rahmanhttp://www.theworldcafecommunity.org/profile/AHMBazlurRahman

United Nations the SDG Media Compact aimed to scale up engagement on the Goals as a founding SDG Media Compact. The SDG Media Compact aims to raise awareness of the Goals, help galvanize further action, and help hold governments to account for Agenda 2030.

In September 2018, the United Nations launched the SDG Media Compact, an initiative marking a new drive to advance awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by all 193 Member States of the United Nations in 2015 set out a roadmap to transform our world. At the heart of “Agenda 2030” are 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs, the Goals) and 169 related targets that address the most urgent challenges of our time, including extreme poverty, inequality and climate change.

The SDGs clearly define the world we want – applying to all nations and leaving no person behind. While governments collectively set the Goals, they alone cannot achieve them. Achieving the SDGs by 2030 will also require concerted actions by civil society, businesses, international bodies, organizations of faith, and individuals, among other actors. Media play a particularly critical role in supporting public dialogue and enhancing knowledge on ways to support sustainable development and achieve the Goals.

SDG Media Compact Overview: The United Nations is inviting leading media organizations to join the SDG Media Compact in a collaboration aimed to scale up engagement on the Goals. Each participating media organization may define for itself – in consultation with the United Nations – how to take action under this Media Compact while upholding its own values, rules and policies. While the Media Compact does not require any specific action of participants, participating organizations commit to the principle of greater engagement and activity on the SDGs and related topics and activities in support of them. Areas, where participants may choose to take action under this Media Compact, include Content partnerships or other partnerships with United Nations entities in relation to the SDGs generally, or specific goals or topics related to the SDGs.

Increased editorial consideration of the Goals, or of initiatives and issues that help or hinder achievement of the Goals, fully respecting media organizations’ editorial independence and editorial policies. Corporate initiatives that align with the SDGs, potentially including Education of employees and other stakeholders about the SDGs. Use of corporate platforms (potentially including social media channels, events and partnerships) in ways aligned with the SDGs

Reporting on corporate initiatives that align with the SDGs at executive or board level at set intervals, or in Annual Reports. Other areas or initiatives to be established by individual media organizations, in consultation with the United Nations.

The United Nations will take action under this Media Compact by Sourcing and sharing high-value, multi-lingual media content and newsworthy opportunities relating to the SDGs on a priority basis for participating media organizations.

Making senior United Nations leaders and SDG content experts available to participating media organizations, on a priority and transparent basis, including for purposes of news reporting and, where appropriate, thought- leadership events hosted by participating media organizations.

Raising awareness of the Media Compact and, where appropriate, of participating media organizations’ corporate initiatives using United Nations platforms, potentially including events, social and digital media properties, and stakeholder engagement channels.

Hosting and publicizing a high-profile media and stakeholder launch event for the Media Compact during General Assembly week in 2018 in New York with participating media organizations.

The United Nations – in partnership with founding and future participating media organizations – will continue to assess and evolve this Media Compact through the period to 2030, to ensure it continues to support achievement of the SDGs, while also continuing to meet the needs of participating media organizations.
