The World Cafe Community

Hosting Conversations about Questions that Matter

Blessings and welcome to this new online community site.

We are looking forward to our development as a global community, and to the visibility of the relational field
around the world as we connect in friendship and stewardship of the whole.

The opportunity to begin together to communicate, learn together, and to generate the future is unlimited only by our attention, commitment, and imagination.

As Elder of the World Cafe Community Foundation I have held the image of our "world as cafe", a great place of hospitality, responsibility, and generativity.

I invite you to join me in this image.

Blessings aye, Anne

Dear Friends,

First of all i would like to thank you to the moderator and admin and all for the opportunity given to me to join this cafe. It is such a wonderful thing that i can get to know and changing knowledge with friends all over the world. I do need you help in guiding me through the cafe process and i would like very much to participate in any discussion.

Recently i have the opportunity to visit my friends who is working in the government agency and we discussed about the issues of transferring and sharing knowledge in government. He ask me to conduct a seminar to teach them on how to do the 'Cafe World'. Now i am in a big trouble because i don't know hot to start. Can you help me in digesting the way to teach them on how 'Cafe World' works.

This is what i understand....
Roles:
1. Facilitator [to facilitate the discussion]
2. The host [each group has one(1) host which act as moderator
3. The Group [which consists of 5-6 people to discuss on any issues]

We have to come up with any topic that interest the group....for example 'Knowledge Sharing' in Government:- Issues and Challenges. Then we divide the participant into groups for example 5 groups which consists of 5-6people. It will take 3discussion session and on each session one(1) representatives form each group will go to another group and brings the 'gist' of their discussion in his/her group to the new table. The host will introduce the new member and will ask him to present or table his input to the group....the discussion continue.

That's all that i understand.......can you please elaborate more...

I do have more questions to ask...for example:
1. We have 3 session and each session will take 30 minutes to discussed 1 issues, they will scribble on the flip chart on their ideas and so on.......Let's just say that we only have 5 groups, do we need to rotate all the participant to go to each group.

2. my second questions is how are we going to collaborate all the ideas in all groups into one(1) resolution, do we need another session to combine ideas, because i can see in the 'Cafe World' they have a kind of 'mind map' in the white board....please help...

thank you...

Regards

MZA

I appreciate the energy you hold for the café and all its members and feel as always much attached to the energy of the pipe and the basket. Just having been in Moscow in a café I see the courage energy and willingness to explore of the young female spirit I call The World Café. It gives me hope. I am thankful for your holding the space. It gives me inspiration. It is needed in the world at large and in the small. Hope to see you when ever that will be in the web woven by the Norns through the silver line of our lives. Ulric

My dear Ann, thank you for sending your blessings to this space o human beings with a sense of purpose and active commitment. Dear friends, I am convinced that the world cafe and this beautiful container of dreams, possibilities and friendship will trigger powerful initiatives that will enable a bright future for all. To me this space is an answer to Rumi, a sufi poet that once said: "out beyond rightdoing and wrongdoing there is a place; I´ll meet you there"

With love from Mexico,
