Hosting Conversations about Questions that Matter
I call myself a "Conversation Architect". I meet with clients and sponsors to learn about the conversation they want to have and then build the stucture that might best support it. The Cafe has been a staple of my tool box. I often use the attached Pyramid or Power of 2 Conversation Tool to harvest key ideas in a quick and fun way. I have used it stand alone for many years. By the end of 4 or 5 rounds, I ask each group to list on a flipchart their final 3 ideas. It has never failed that at least 2 of the items on each chart are the same across all of the charts. I am also very careful about how I phrase my request. It is important to ask questions like "What are three things of value that you heard in the conversation? or "What were three key ideas that you heard?". I try never to use words like "best" or "most" so they stay as open as possible to change and compromise during the process. I hope this is helpful.
