Hosting Conversations about Questions that Matter

Sharing The World Cafe (and finding new clients to share it with!)

As a budding entrepreneur committed to building a vibrant consulting practice, I am bursting with spaces and places that The World Cafe and other hosting methods can create magic. Without a steady client base, I'm working most days writing proposals and communicating with potential clients - with satisfactory success. I spend time envisioning all the wonderful people and groups I will encounter on my journey and am excited to experience as it all unfolds. Having said that, I would welcome wise words of advice from other consultants and independents who have experience building a facilitation and hosting practice. Please share your wisdom!

I have experience with group facilitation drawing upon various tools including Playback Theater, Eco-education, Permaculture design, Open Space Technology, and World Cafe style sessions. I've been involved in youth empowerment facilitation inspired by Power of Hope and am very interested in Peace education and addressing youth violence and working in the prison system. Let me know if you ever need facilitators as I am also connected to others and would like to keep involved in such projects.

Hi Jenn, I too am a budding entreprenuer building a vibrant consulting practice and your post drew me right in! Its great to hear a little of your story, thanks for sharing it. I am in the process of writing my business plan right now and am learning LOTS, especially about how much more I have to learn! My background is in community and youth based personal development/leadership programmes, usually in the capacity of a facilitator and trainer. I am in the process of completing the Genuine Contact (TM) Program in organisational effectiveness and health and starting to think about how I am a going to communicate my passions & skills to potential clients. It's certainly exciting and at times a little daunting. Do keep us posted on your progress and drop me a line if you want to connect as one starter to another! Best, Janine
