I am looking for suggestions-- Would like to run a first World Cafe event--we have 5 themes and this is for a small credit Union- Participants would be the Leadership and Management. Some questions I have are: Is there a minimum and a maximum number of participants to make a world cafe impactful? Any suggestions on the best process? Appreciate any info- Thank you

Has anyone started with say seven tables and seven topics and asked people to rotate after rounds to a new topic/table - still using the same principles, periodic harvests, and at the end of seven rounds all people would visited all topics/tables?

World Cafe for Setting Strategic Objectives, Action Planning

I am working with a large newly formed work group (50 plus) with goals to build collaboration, identify values/purpose/vision and identify near and short term strategic directions. I have used WC for some of these conversations and am now looking for a simple, direct and rapid process to narrow in on opportunities to support a codified vision.

Does anyone have experience using WC for a SWOT/SOAR and for action planning with large groups? Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Has anyone used the World Cafe following climate change induced natural disasters, or as a forum to look at transformational ways to address the escalation of climate events?

I am writing a book on emotional resiliency in the era of climate change. The book has three components: the psychology of climate change denial, identifying and shifting the underlying collective beliefs that reinforce the dysfunctional system feeding climate change, and the most effective individual and community approaches to deal with climate change losses. The hope is to contribute to transforming the system while supporting existing needs.

I am wanting to hear from people who have been touched directly by climate events such as flood, fire, tornadoes, extreme heat, contamination of water supplies, etc. I want to include whatever forms of emotional and practical support was useful, learn what was lacking, and any hear of surprises in rebuilding your life and community. I could image the World Cafe being an important venue with this.

I would also love to hear from anyone working in this way with World Cafe.

The world cafe in teaching science

Hello World cafe Community!
I am a university teacher in Padova (since two years, not that much..).
I teach Ecology-related courses. I have participated in a world cafè
discussion once a couple of years ago. I read some material I found
online and I would really be interested in applying this technique
in my teaching. I'm writing to ask if you could suggest any resource
implementing the World cafe in teaching science. Are there other
members of the community who have already applied it and can
give advice?  My course this is year is aimed at providing the students
with knowledge about organism's response to climate change (ecology,
evolution, physiology, I'll teach with other three colleagues). My (our)
plan is to start with a world cafe in the first lesson asking students to
think themselves what are the potential responses they expect from
organisms.  We will keep their responses in the class room (post-its,
small vignettes, posters and notes) until the end of the course. We
will conclude in the last lesson revising their early responses and
going through a general course brush up.  I would be very grateful 
if you could give your opinion or suggestions to my preliminary idea.

Is there a graphic recorder in the larger community who would like to work with me and our team (David Shaw and Dana Pearlman) at Bioneers this year??

We will be working in a large tent on the lawn of the conference grounds (next to a lovely lake), and offering three sessions (one each day) that run concurrently with the other main Bioneers sessions.

There is no payment (for any of us) but Bioneers is providing free tickets for the conference, and all our meals. In other words, it would be a labor of love - but if you can reply right away you would also receive a public listing in the Bioneers program with a link to your contact details.

I don’t know if you have been to Bioneers in the past, but it is a brilliant conference that draws amazing people from all over the world, both as presenters and audience. As part of our team you would have access to any of the main sessions (that aren’t scheduled at the same time our sessions are).

Framing questions for mixed group conversation with homeless

I am hosting an event that will bring homeless and 'middle class' folks together in conversation: trying to frame great questions and seeking ideas! (This is for TOMORROW (june 29) so little time to receive your wise suggestions! This will be an informal setting at a public park... we'll use more of conversation cafe process than world cafe because of that 'chaotic' element... Thanks for any suggestions!

Some thoughts so far:

What does home mean to you?

What is your experience of Seattle?

"Tell a story of a time you experienced profound support, either as giver or receiver... when you had someone's back, or you felt someone had yours"

Tell about a time when you experienced homelessness, when you had no safe place to rest your head?
