:-) Well, it depends on what you mean by alive. :-) There doesn't seem to be much conversation going on in the forums - a little more in the groups, but not much. Stories still get posted, but probably the calendar is the most active part.
Still, there are almost 8,000 people here, so I wouldn't say it's completely "dead". We host monthly online Community World Cafes - the next one will be later this month (a date hasn't yet been set) and the link to register will be in the calendar, and they are pretty wonderful.
There are a lot of people here, as I say, so if you have questions about anything, please ask - you can try a forum or group that relates to your interest, or you can ask me, or you can use the search function at the top of the page or in the People tab to find someone who is interested in the topic you want to connect about and reach out to them - either by inviting them to be friends, writing on their profile, or using the "message" feature.
