Event Description

SCI2 is the result of a powerful collaboration between Community Performance International (Richard O. Geer and Jules Corriere), World Cafe founders David Isaacs and Juanita Brown, the Town of Jonesborough, TN, Jimmy Neil Smith (Founder of the International Storytelling Center), and David Blumenkrantz, father of the modern community-based Rites of Passage movement.

The first ever Staging Change Institute was marked by exciting discoveries and new connections. We welcome you to this year’s “community story laboratory” with colleagues in the arts, organization development, education, hosting, storytelling, and dialogue as we co-create a “story bridge” learning community. We’ll quickly engage together through story-sharing and build new relationships through collaborative performance. Strategic conversations and insight harvests help reveal collective wisdom and unexpected opportunities. Individual action plans as well as an ongoing community of practice will continue to shape our creative work in the months and years to come. Staging Change Institute 2, April 25-28

Some of you may recognize Juanita Brown in our picture from the first Staging Change Institute!  Juanita and David (Isaacs) have showered our process with their love and attention and participated like true pioneers and partners in crafting the Story Bridge process.  They even worked with our Artistic Directors Richard O. Geer and Jules Corriere on the book, Story Bridge: From Alienation to Community Action.

World Cafe Conversation has become an essential part of all the work we do in Community Performance -- it's literally "the other half of the bridge" to Committed Action.  And, as you can see from the above picture, when we build a bridge from story to performance to relationship, to conversation to committed action, we have fun and we cultivate a new energy for community and organizational change!
