Hello Amy, I am trying to get my feet wet here and learn the ropes.
I do not see any venues for either group or individual real-time, focused or not, scheduled or spontaneous, online verbal discussions. (I did find the chat room)
I wonder if there are any or if you plan such activities for the future.
Mike,
I think if you go to "groups" you will see a number of conversations in progress. And, if you go to the Conversations/StoryNet section there are other conversations going...very lively. Did I understand your question? I hope so--as I'm not a very skilled on-line person yet.
With warm regards,
Juanita

Thank you both for your thoughts. I did find the chat feature and will try it soon.
Ideally, I ultimately would like to make the acquaintance of some folks that might like to try engaging in a live structured, led, topical discussion of say thirty to sixty minutes. I envision a classical small group discussion format, but using (free) audio or video Internet conferencing to connect the participants. I have not done this yet: I believe the start up would be filled with glitches. But whatever the initial shortfalls, I believe such conversations would provide a stimulating, unique, and rich experience.
I think one of the best ways to do this might be to just design and schedule one and send out an invitation to join you. There is also a group set up to explore World Cafes online, and you might like to join us there, as that is our focus.
