Nearness Radar

What it is for:

To find members of the World Café Online Community that live within a certain distance from your or any location. Both location and distance is for you to set.

How to use it:

1) type your own location into the location-field in the format "city, state, country"

2) press <geocode> and wait (ideally just 1sec) for the gray small line of text to expand (you can ignore the "lat, lon" field, that's for manual use in case the automatic geocoding doesn't work).

3) enter your desired maximum distance to members

4) press <find members> to get the results

5) a click on a persons picture takes you to their profile

6) for a new search press <reset> first

(the fields should right below here, please try refreshing the page if they are not)

All the data used is publicly accessible from the World Cafe Online Community. The locations have been geocoded using this service.

Hi Marian, you can only send messages to more than one person if you're friends with the people you send to. Under groups are some groups organized that you could message as a whole once you join. I don't know... i guess to some degree it will have to be pick and choose ;)

Is there a way I can contact several people, or a list, at once? Or - are there any local/regional groups organized, that I can interact with? I would love to talk with some people from my area but, as I don't really know any of them, how to pick and choose.....??? Does anyone have any tips?

Hi Marxe, nice that you gave it a try :) Montreal works for me though. you have to press "geocode" first and then "find members", does that work then? I find 60 people.
