Dr Andreas Gerhardus Velthuizen is an inspired social entrepreneur delivering services as researcher, designer and activator of innovative solutions, learning practitioner, knowledge management consultant, and change/transformation management advisor for business and communities in Africa.

After an earlier Masters Degree in Strategic Studies at the University Of South Africa (UNISA), in 2007 he completed a Doctors Degree at the same university with the title “The Management of Knowledge: A Model for the African Renaissance”, a trans-disciplinary study dealing with the management of knowledge in Africa according to a trans-dimensional knowledge management model. The thesis presents a knowledge management approach to find solutions for business, international organizations and African society towards growth, competitiveness, service delivery, productivity and lasting peace. The study includes field studies done in Uganda, Kigali (Rwanda), the International Criminal Tribunal in Arusha (Tanzania) and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Currently he is a Research Fellow of the Center for African Renaissance Studies.

His former career of 34 years in the military (which included service in Namibia, Swaziland, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo), supported by continuous learning, exposed him to intense experience on policy, strategic and operational levels where he developed real skills to work in a trans-disciplinary, multi-cultural, and international environment.

Andreas Gerhardus Velthuizen was born in 1956 and is married for 28 years. He has two adult children (a son and a daughter). For the last twenty-five years, he resides north of the Magalies Mountains in Pretoria, the Capital of South Africa, from where he inter-connects with the local and international community through his vocation, as scholar, and as community leader.
