I really like the approach you have taken here Charles. As someone who uses both World Cafe and storytelling in my practice, it has not occurred to me to connect the two as you have here. You have given me a lot of inspiration to experiment with…

Ria, You are so right.  Why is it we ignore this wisdom and just celebrate our stupidity?  Keep up the good work!

I stand with you Charles! Bringing the best of the past - not only from myths and tales, but also from buildings, the land etc. - into the present, if only to use the wisdom that is there, and not use it. Also to see the longer timeline, into the…

Juanita, you are always so generous and open.  Perhaps it is time to bring the dynamics of VENNergizingTIME back into our TWC sessions?  Should we? Charles

Wow Charles....what a beautiful and transformative reflection. I feel truly honored and blessed by this interpretation (as I did in your original post, by the way). I now understand a lot better the context for this idea of "living…

Benjamin, I'm attaching the challenge to the group, a wonderful set of elements from the Australian Aborigines and the one page Dream Catcher designed to inspire them to start to write their own myths - and they really stepped into this…

Juanita, If we see TIME through the lens of SPACE, than we feel there is a physical distance between the PAST and PRESENT.  If we take TIME out from behind the shadow of SPACE, and see it in its own terms, the separation disappears, and the…

Myth and Legend - Taping the Wisdom of the Past

Yesterday we had a Myth and Legends Café with 36 Masters students in the Sustainable Resource Management program at the Tech University Munich. Our question: What wisdom is there in the myths and legends of the first peoples that could help us better understand our sustainability challenges?”  We started with brief presentations of these myths and legends from Chile, Columbia, China (two stories), Lebanon, Australia, Bulgaria and the US.  They were really inspiring. Then I challenged them to…See More

Great discussion.  Rudolf, I'm intrigued with your CoCo Cafe approach.  One question:  Given our Industrial Era mentality, we want to "solve problems."  Much of our therapy is focused in this direction.  How…

Dear Antti,
In your facilitation, do you use TWC and/or other methods? And are you also working with the "energy" in the room - based on the people showing excitement for one another's thoughts?
Sounds exciting, I'd like to hear more.

Charles, I was lecturing on an advanced course at our program, which is basically about offering the basics for institutional entrepreneurship and institutional design, as well as considering diffences in opportunities across time and space.
Facilitation comes into play in getting people to share knowledge etc. so as to take on opportunities (or to collectively decide to ignore them).

Hello Charles, yes it's important, that World Cafe exists because people are running all over the world and so we can stay in conversation here. I call you after my return to Munich. I hope you feel good. I added to my offer for customers to do important modules for them and our invoice will be sent only in 2010, so we help our customers not only in good times that is what I'm understanding in serious business. So the customer has time enough to change his budget himself - with a little help. All the best Claire
