Please indicate your World Café experience (ONLY IF YOU HAVE ACTUAL WORLD CAFE EXPERIENCE) in one or more of the following roles:
I'm New to the World Cafe
If you are new to the World Cafe, would you please share how you heard about this community?
I studied the World Café during a graduate course at Duquesne University
What field is the primary focus of your World Café work (ONLY CHECK AREAS WHERE YOU ARE ALREADY ACTIVELY USING WORLD CAFE PLEASE)?
Government
What knowledge, skills or resources would you like to contribute to the World Café community to help it grow and flourish?
I am the Chief Diversity Educator for the Department of Veterans Affairs and former Director of Workforce Diversity at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I have presented to over 20,000 employees and hundreds of presentations in cultural competency, LGBT, ethics, diversity and inclusion, etc. My goal and I have the support of the VA is to develop a World Café model to reach facilities encompassing 350,000 employees across the country. The World Café topic will be a dialogue on Race Relations; the first of its kind in the federal government.
What would you most like to receive from this community?
I believe the World Café method will work but I need to have input from the experts who have held sessions with somewhat charged topics. Also, how do I ensure there will be adequate representation from all races with the World Café if I send an invitation out for our first one which will be limited to 25 for the prototype model? This is an area in which I have not worked out how this will be accomplished yet it is vital to have a demographic reflection of the VA and not one race or another dominating by numbers with this topic. There is tremendous interest throughout the VA in having this type of conversation that matters. I would appreciate input from the World Café community. Thank you so much.

Welcome, John!

It sounds like you have a really great opportunity, and are starting off with some excellent questions... I invite you to ask them in the World Café Questions forum, and if you don't get the answers you need there to consider connecting with World Café Services for professional support.

Given the scope of your project, if you are considering presenting some part of it in an online medium, I would be happy to assist you in thinking about how that could be done effectively. Contact me directly at [email protected] if you'd like to talk about that.

Warmly,

Amy
