I am a PhD student involved in the Age Friendly City Initiative in Albuquerque, NM. I have been a facilitator of groups and community public speaker/organizer for years.
What would you most like to receive from this community?
As these will be ongoing conversations with probably changing participants I would appreciate assistance on how a level of continuity can be achieved with an ever changing population and input.

Welcome, Melinda!

Your project sounds wonderful - I'm intrigued on a number of different levels. One reason is that your work appears to be touching directly on one of the World Cafe initiatives I am most passionate about - the Wiser Together work on cross-generational collaboration partnering. Here's the page on the World Cafe website with more about it (check out the link at the bottom to the Wiser Together website if you're interested).

The other reason I'm interested is that we've seen a whole bunch of academic research - particularly in the last 5 years - either using World Cafe as an action research method or investigating the World Cafe process itself. I've been working with a small team to gather that research in one place so it can serve other researchers as well as the larger community. Here's the research section on the World Cafe website (it's just getting started so a little sparse at the moment, but we'd love your input and please add your research).

Please keep us updated about how you are getting along, and if you ask your questions in the Questions and Needs Exchange forum, hopefully you will get an answer from someone in the community who has experience in that area. (It may also be that you will be the one who shares that answer for someone else in the future by reporting on what you're learning in your work!)

Warmly,

Amy
