If you are new to the World Cafe, would you please share how you heard about this community?

In what field is the primary focus of your World Café work?
Education
What knowledge, skills or resources would you like to contribute to the World Café community to help it grow and flourish?
I am a Pre-Service teacher at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, (UWM). The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at UWM strives to prepare students (like myself) to create classroom communities that are able to tackle social injustice through critical thinking and dialogue. I come to the World Cafe with passion for a global understanding of the human condition and a desire to learn more about myself in a broader context. I have a B.A. in Journalism with a focus on Media Studies and a Minor in Cultural Anthropology.
What would you most like to receive from this community?
I am eager for a larger perspective on what "equality" means and ways to achieve equality in public education (more specifically urban education). I am also looking for advice from experienced educators ways to empower students to create social change in their communities.
