Please indicate your World Café experience (ONLY IF YOU HAVE ACTUAL WORLD CAFE EXPERIENCE) in one or more of the following roles:
I'm New to the World Cafe
If you are new to the World Cafe, would you please share how you heard about this community?
I have learned about World Cafe through reading and speaking with other colleagues at different conferences The European Conference on Positive Psychology in Denmark and The First International Lisbon Conference on Positive Psychology are two examples. I am now attending the first edition of the EMAPP - Executive Masters in Applied Positive Psychology at the Superior Institute of Political and Social Sciences, Technical University of Lisbon. During coffee time with a friend who owns a coffee shop, rose the opportunity to share space, know how and practice. Our first session will be on October 6th and will run every two weeks after dinner. It is a first experience and I do have a lot to learn, from engadging with others and the the support of my EMAPP teachers and colleagues.
What field is the primary focus of your World Café work (ONLY CHECK AREAS WHERE YOU ARE ALREADY ACTIVELY USING WORLD CAFE PLEASE)?
Community
What knowledge, skills or resources would you like to contribute to the World Café community to help it grow and flourish?
I am a psychologist who works at a high school level drama school. I counsel students but this year I have been invited to teach two modules of Psychology to the finalist students. The themes are (1) From the differences in behavior to the different interventions; (2) Future construction and career management. Because this youngsters are extremely creative and are very often very bored in more theoretical subjects, I have decided to run classes in a World Cafe style. The results of the first three classes were amazing. Initially some of them were a bit sceptical, but soon after they saw their colleagues in serious conversations, they started getting up and joining in. I love it, they love it and the learning experience is interiorized much quicker. This was my first real experience in applying this style. So now I am going to try it at a community level.
What would you most like to receive from this community?
I want to be able to share my experience and any doubts and difficulties with others who are also running this type of work. It is for me a big challenge now but I know that this is the direction onto which I find myself flowing.
What haven't we asked that you'd like to share?
I do not have a web space or blog yet.
I will connect for now through facebook and through here.
