Hosting Conversations about Questions that Matter

Charity is such a black hole. Good ideas, like light from beautiful stars, that could help develop cross cultural partnership can so often be sucked into the dependancy of the black hole of charity. In a time when our new government has re-stated it's commitment to overseas aid it's interesting that the humbug vultures are a circling. Does charity begin at home? Should we not be looking to look after our own poor and stop propping up corrupt regimes? How does an NGO avoid tinkering nicely, for all the right reasons, and maintain it's trajectory past the black hole unhindered? It's what I've been thinking deeply about having just set up a charity! We're about to head out as a family to Brazil to aid education development in state schools (a bit of a black hole in itself!). We need to understand how the man has been trying to fish before helping him to catch more- eh?
