Hosting Conversations about Questions that Matter

We need 50+ tables for 4, and no budget to rent. We are borrowing what we can, but someone must have run into this before. What creative way has a lack of tables been handled? We are not able t use the floor, as most of the people attending are older and can't get up and down from the floor easily. We welcome any ideas or true life experiences you might have to share about this.

Dear Kelle, we are using light wooden boards in this cases - with flipchart paper on it and the legs of the four participants at the table are becoming table-legs... an other way to connect and get together :-)
Warm wishes from Dresden, Sabine
Sabine, you inspire me to talk to our construction supply store whose members do a lot of business with. Perhaps they will sponsor some boards we can use. Thanks so much for the idea.
Greetings from the Carolina mountains (all oranges, reds, yellows and golds right now!).

Hi Kellie, your hardware store is a good place to ask, as they often have odd pieces from cutting to size for contractors. Old doors also make great tabletops. You can use milk crates or sturdy boxes for the legs. If you use social media, you might also put out a call on Twitter or Facebook, surprising how people will spread the need for help.
Karen, thank you for your good ideas. I will get on it in the morning. I'll take your hint about facebook, too, as I'm connected to lots of local people. It's such a blessing to have this cafe website. Some wonderful folks are on it!
