Hosting Conversations about Questions that Matter

Hello Friends :)
I have been participating in various conference calls lately with Maestro Conference Service
www.maestroconference.com
and it seems to be made for TWC model
lets open up a space to share about our experience with it here.

Hi Shiloh

had a look at the site (not yet used the trial period on offer) - the technology looks like it has good possibilities. It would be good to know if there was a way to manage the table host role between sessions. It seems that the 'sorting into groups' operates by splitting into determined sized groups - but how might this technology handle the requirement to largely mix and remix each session - allowing a host to meet a fresh grouping each time?

Incase the point is not clear, let me frame it as a 'worst outcome' - how do introduce enough control to keep the agreed table hosts from being randomised together into a new table grouping?

This is a great question dear Simon,
I have been into the back end and it does seem to be able to do this,-maintain the Hosts position- while everyone else shifts...yet down to the very very specifics I am not totally confident.
How it would work from my perspective thus far::The 'facilitator' would ask the 'table hosts' to raise their hand- they would & then be selected to remain in that group- everyone else would then get re-randomly selected.
The next time I am in there I will view into it from that very specific care.
I encourage others to check it out, I think it may be a great new tool for our learning world community.
Smiles friends!

Hi Shiloh, thanks for pointing us to this technology.

I just had a look at their website. This looks terrific. It might be a good choice in adapting for online cafés.

Hi Simon,

Good noticing! This is one of the questions I've been working on with the folks at MaestroConference, and while they are being so kind as to introduce a "randomize" feature to their group function before our first session on Friday, there are currently a number of "tweaks" to the system you can use to make sure there are new people at each of your subsequent tables. That doesn't mean there will ALWAYS be ALL new people, so perhaps it calls for a "tweak" on our part re how we work with the idea of table hosts, which could be relatively simple since the main purpose is to convey a sense of what happened in at least one earlier conversation.

I'll share what I come up with for the MaestroMonth sessions...

It's interesting that you bring this up, Shiloh, since I've just connected with Christine Whitney Sanchez and Gabriel Shirley, and we're going to do some explorations of the medium for MaestroMonth. I'm checking it out expressly for adaptation to the World Cafe - as we will be hosting World Cafe conversations on it after the main interview sessions. I'm happy to share what I find here, and look forward to hearing other people's experiences too.

Great Amy,
Keep us posted. I would so love to see regular cafes happening there- such a wonderful technology, great teachers and content is using the platform, and many are checking out the environment. I look forward to hearing your perspective.

Things are definitely progressing! We have scheduled at least 6 sessions with Social Change thought leaders, and will be hosting World Cafes after each one. I'll put them up in the Calendar soon, and invite everyone!

They will be free, and not only a great way to check out the software but a wonderful and fun experience, hearing from people like Juanita Brown and David Isaacs of the World Cafe, David Cooperrider and Diana Whitney from Appreciative Inquiry, and Harrison Owen from Open Space.

Hi Amy,

do you think we should give this technology a trial regarding the European Salon?

Yes, that is one of the things I was planning to bring up at our next meeting, since I now have an MaestroConference account that can initiate conferences with large numbers of people. I'd suggest we experiments with it first, however. :-)

Hi all,

The plans for MaestroMonth have been finalized, and we are hosting World Cafes online for a whole series called "Beyond Facilitation: Accessing Collective Wisdom with Key Change Leaders". Go to MaestroMonth.com for full details (scroll down to the bottom for our series).

The first one is this Friday at 9am PST. It will be done in a World Cafe format featuring Juanita Brown and Nicole Boyer. They'll be speaking to their topic, which is "Multi-Generational Collaboration: Shaping Tomorrow, Together", and we will follow with a World Cafe that I'll be hosting.

Please come along and join us for this first event - experience how it works and what it's potential might be for yourself ... this session with Juanita and Nicole, like all the MaestroMonth events, are free.

That will give us the best foundation for our conversations here about how to develop the medium for World Cafes and other conversational social technologies. I'm already learning so much, and am really excited about hosting these events.

We'll also be announcing an online World Cafe from the European Salon in Austria later this month (we will be using this technology) so stay tuned.

This is Great News Amy !
I had a sense there might be a marvelous match there. I look forward to the calls and sharing the news.
May the cafe spirit live long and share the shift with many ((~*~))
Warmly,
Shiloh

Thank you Shiloh! I hope you can come... In fact, the more people who experience it, the better our mastery of this exciting new tool. As a community of practice, we have the capacity to learn together, which is a huge advantage.

I realize I forgot to give you all a registration link! You can use it to register any MaestroMonth event, not just the ones in our "Beyond Facilitation: Accessing Collective Wisdom" series.
