Could you send me on any information you may have on holding a world cafe event. I love the values of this approach but my main query would be whether 2hours and 15mins would be sufficent time to run such and event and would it be possible to cope with 350 people in such an event -is this too large a number??

If you could help me at all with this enquiry I would greatly appreicate it.

Hi Valerie, I'm intersted to know how your event went in February? Did you use the WC approach for how many people and for how long? I'm thinking of intergrating cafe conversations into some work I'm doing with community groups and would welcome your insights.

Dear Valerie,

Welcome! You've come to the right place. :-) I invite you to post your question in the conversations area here, since many more people will see it there and be able to help, but let me give you some of my thoughts right away.

Yes, absolutely - a World Cafe with 350 people is completely doable - you will need to be able to get them together in small groups of 4 (or 5 max), and preferably in a Cafe setting with small round tables, etc..

2 1/4 hours is enough time if you do two rounds and a harvest instead of 3 rounds, which is preferable if there is time, but not absolutely necessary.

Have you read the World Cafe book? You will find some great support in it, as well as in the hosting guides we offer in our "hosting support" area. But again, I would also invite you to utilize the experience and wisdom in this community by asking your question more widely - start a conversation about it and ask your specific questions so that others can respond. This will be of value not only to you but also to the many others who will learn from your inquiry.

Warm Wishes,

Amy
