Hosting Conversations about Questions that Matter
I wanted to share my experience with the recent Level 1 online World Café with the community. I have been using World Café principles in my work in organizational and leadership development for many years, but I was intrigued with the idea of hosting online, and what technology would work, and for this reason I signed up for the webinar series. I have to say that what has come out of it was WOW!, beyond my expectations. First of all, it was a great workshop, 3 times 2 hour sessions, with the middle session actually being a World Café. My original learning objective was fully met: it was an outstanding demonstration of what could be done online, and a great experience with the Maestro Conference technology, which is perfectly suited to World Café.
The WOW! Part of it came at a deeper level, which once again convinces me of the power of the World Café process. During the second session, the first question was something like “What are you passionate about in your life right now?” I realized in listening to my fellow participants at my ‘table’, that what I was experiencing in my life was more of a ‘preoccupation’ or ‘major concern’ than a ‘passion’. In the harvesting, hearing back what others had been touched by in the sharing of my preoccupation was like a magical mirror, revealing to me how my preoccupation could in fact be turned into a passion! I felt transformed in that moment, and realized that I wanted to share this journey with other women who are in this moment in their lives. And WOW! was born. WOW! (Women On Wisdom: Life Beyond Adulthood) will be a virtual World Café on April 17th, open to women over 50 who are interested in exploring together how to intentionally and vitally transition into later stages of life. If this sounds interesting to you, or if you know someone who might be interested, please check it out at: http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=bmvd8ljab&...
Many thanks to World Café and everyone who has contributed to making it real!
In gratitude, Robin Postel
