Our church -- LifePoint Church Reisterstown, MD (www.lifepointchurch.us) -- would love to work more in the area of homelessness, but we really don't know how to put something together. I think the U Interagency Council may be able to give us some help. The USICH is beginning to develop a federal strategic plan around homelessness and is looking to bring the voices of various stakeholders into that process using the World Cafe. This is a new way of working in the strategic planning process for USICH

I just now saw a note you left for me a year ago... clearly, I am not up to speed on how this procedure works! Yes, it would be fun to talk some time and share experiences re: the homeless. I have not worked with 'hard core on the street' homeless, but rather those who are falling between the cracks and losing shelter because of lost wages, traumatic loss of a home, etc. Be happy to share what I know...

- Hi, Dave! Not familiar with 'Idea Camps' -- interested, however. No need to worry about asking the 'wrong' questions. Remember that you are not in this process alone -- the collective want to get to the quintessential question(s). It is a process, which will evolve... I would be happy to talk with you about our experience here in 'Big D' with homelessness. We moved a home down Main Street... neat story, and I did a lot to refurbish and to find the families... More later... Oh -- I will be out of town all of next week (leaving this Saturday), so you may not hear from me for awhile after Saturday. (will take computer and see if I can figure the out-of-town thing out so I can communicate!)

- Hi, Dave. I think the World Cafe model is an exceptional model for getting to the heart of an issue and radiating effective plans outwardly from there. I particularly value the notion of asking the most imminently important question... We find we have more wisdom than we know when we learn to ask the 'right' questions... and as Rilke said, '...one day learn to live the answers.'
I found more information on you by happy accident (I am such a beginner at this!). So you are in Westminister, probably hit Rt. 124 on your way to Shady Grove... I would be interested in talking to you sometime about your work in Baltimore. I worked on a project for the homeless here in Damascus for several years. Story too long for this page, but one day would be nice to share... you will like it.

- And it's back to you, Dave! No, I have not yet participated in an 'up close and personal' World Cafe. I am very interested in doing so... I attended a Meg Wheatley seminar in Cape Cod in the summer of '06, actually picked up the World Cafe book, and then this winter began looking into it in earnest on behalf of a DC group. Please tell me more about the events you might host in 2010, and where your church is located. I live in Damascus (What? You say you have never heard of it?. Yup, mostly we chew on long strands of raw wheat and bat flies in the summer, so a change might be nice...). :)
