"Hi all! World Cafe is one of those processes that I knew instantly was a Great Thing, it's just obvious how it can help a group of people to collectively explore and deepen into an inquiry. I'm an eclectic process artist, so I know a…"

Let's Talk: Local Food Economics at EWEB

June 23, 2012 from 2pm to 5pm
An afternoon of participatory discussion and deliberation on the underpinnings of any successful economic system -- our interaction with the natural world. We'll begin with a conversation among featured guests with decades of experience in backyard & neighborhood gardening, regional farming issues, local code, food distribution and natural capital. The rest of us will observe this initial conversation, and then take part in three more rounds of small-group conversation within a World Cafe…See More

Profile Information

Please indicate your World Café experience (ONLY IF YOU HAVE ACTUAL WORLD CAFE EXPERIENCE) in one or more of the following roles:
Host, Sponsor, Participant
If you are new to the World Cafe, would you please share how you heard about this community?
Not new, but from Tom Atlee.
What field is the primary focus of your World Café work (ONLY CHECK AREAS WHERE YOU ARE ALREADY ACTIVELY USING WORLD CAFE PLEASE)?
n/a
What knowledge, skills or resources would you like to contribute to the World Café community to help it grow and flourish?
I'm an eclectic process artist, so I know a little about a lot of other processes, and am generally comfortable in any conversation designing, or debriefing from, events. I'm particularly experienced in consensus, Nonviolent Communication, and . I'm also a computer geek, and have not coded seriously in years, but am a co-designer on Wagn and seem to end up operating or helping out with a lot of websites.
What would you most like to receive from this community?
A community of practice in holding World Cafes, support with variations on the process, how to hold it well, coming up with good questions, networking around particular events, etc.
What haven't we asked that you'd like to share?
You asked about focus/topics, but there was no option for Economics, which I'm surprised how often I am finding. "Corporate" (or "Business", which I see as topics on some websites) include on only some aspects of economics, and almost presuppose that the current economic system is fixed, while the labels for the other topics do not constrain them in this way.

In any case, I'm also focused on all of the above.

What a beautiful profile introduction, John! If you'd like to connect with a larger number of people here and share your varied and exciting interests, one idea would be to copy some of this into our Introductions thread:

In any case, I'm really glad to see you here. Welcome!
