Hi David -- Thank you so much for the warm welcome! This has been a long time coming.

Very happy to share stories! I'm excited to say a recent project where I combined the world cafe with appreciative inquiry worked extremely well. The project was a listening tour related to change management within a company. Rather than lead focus groups, we hosted cafes, to convey that much of the insight from the conversation could potentially be acted upon by the folks in the room locally. We also used cafe questions to elicit stories about leading and responding to change both, so there was a sense of shared ownership of the whole change experience. The indicator of how well this worked were the "provocative propositions" the table groups came up with in the last round. Very inspiring commitments to how the company wants to share in leading and responding to change, written by people of all levels, almost every one of which sounded like it could have been written by the CEO!

I'm really looking forward to engaging here with you all. Please let me know if there's a better place to share stories such as that one.

And btw, I get to speak about the book at the Commonwealth Club on April 13. Will post an event -- would love to have the World Cafe Community come share their thoughts on courage, compromise, and how we can inspire greater trust and integrity in the world!

Dear David,

Thanks for the note....I wish I could have shared the conversation with you and Jeremy, as well as STIA. I was in South Africa as a convener of the 1st Alliance of Community Schools Conference, celebrating the end of our 3 year pilot.

I have been thinking of you, as I once again look at next steps. Would LOVE to have a conversation. Obviously eye to eye would be best...but voice to voice is o.k. Are you game? Love to YOU and Juanita. Carol

Anne has spoken of you often with great affection of course! I get to see her monthly, and enjoy every minute. I am excited to join here...I have been a consultant for over 20 years and am currently working toward my PhD at Fielding. I have used WC in government...my practice includes HealthCare and community orgs. I am interested in bringing public sector managers/leaders and citizens together to hear and understand each other differently and see WC as a perfect vehicle. Lots more to say...thanks for the warm welcome!

hi David
thanks, it was indeed great to connect at STIA
Have been wondering the same thing, ie what is the field between World Cafe and LEGO SERIOUS PLAY... I have explored it a bit by applying world cafe elements in my larger LSP workshops, but I am certain more could be explored. There could also be conceptual elements should as deeper understanding of how learning spaces are created, the best questions are crafted, and the dynamics of collective learning/intelligence. May be we could explore an opportunity to co-design and facilitate a workshop at a conference, and then learn from that
(dont know Lasse Z personally, but have trained a consultant from pathfinders in the LSP method)
take care
