I came across this wonderful young lady who is looking for collaborators to work on her "Junto" platform. It's a way of using the world wide web to have meaningful live conversations in 3D. The concept is very open and evolving by the day , it seems.
Yes I would like to comment more often too but I think many of us get caught up in the day to day drudgery of earning a living, walking the dog etc!
On the bright side I think many people put aside some time for online postings and then devote a day to it frequently. I do.
Now that we are finally getting some warmer weather in Canada I find myself spending less time online and more outdoors to grab as much of the precious sunshine as I can.
Funny how I took sunshine for granted when I lived in the tropics!
Looks as if people are busy doing things and are not here to come back and comment. That's OK, but I'm waiting with baited breathe to experience a World Cafe. If someone else isn't going to create an event of the World Cafe in my area, I may have to do it myself!
Franis it certainly is "emulate-able".
I think the value of observing people like Venessa is for inspiration and motivation to dig into ourselves and find the best person we can be.
I think we all have potential, (maybe to accomplish some things more than other things), and some of us, like myself, don't know how to develop it. We just need some guidelines, or to hook up with other people who have more, or different but complementary knowledge about the same things.
I am finding that the more I share of myself, the more people I connect with, the more I learn, and the more mutual support develops.
When you look at the "6 tips for open collaboration" by Alpha Lo posted on Venessa's blog, you'll see that this was pretty much the process by which Junto started to grow spontaneously.
In Venessa's case of course, it happened like a landslide due to the collaborative and technologically relevant nature of junto for the times. The idea she seeks to develop is noble, appropriate, exciting and worthy enough to engage us all.
This is living proof of what can be accomplished by the masses (hate that word-so Marxian but appropriate here), and for free!
I was also inspired by the idea of Junto - but the most impressive thing about Miemis is the community she has managed to gather around her! Wow! I'd like to emulate that skill...but not sure if it's a "teach-able" thing.
