Viviendo la magia en Brasil - parte 1 / Living the magic in Brazil - part 1

Great food, warm smiles, happy music and friends from all the continent... that's how we start each day at the First Latin America World Cafe gathering.

With the intentions of bringing a bit of sun in my baggage and warmth in my heart to survive the cold Canadian winter, I came from Montreal to say hello to old and new friends. Cafe practitioners from Argentina, Colombia, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil and Mexico, we got together to celebrate the joy of working together to make a better world.

To start with the right foot, we welcomed each other dancing Mambo #5, lead by Edgard Gouveia.

Juanita started the meeting sharing a metaphor about the World Cafe and how, using it, we could access a central garden. Then we were ready to introduce ourselves. We found a person to share an anecdote of an incident that changed our lives. Then, we would introduce our partner. I had the chance to introduce Edgard and I will tell you more about him later.

Thanks Deborah!

We were 24 during the first three days. We learned wonderful stories about the different experiences: how meaningful conversations (although not always a Cafe) made them realize the importance of their actions.

In my case, that transformation actually involved the World Cafe, as I met Juanita, David and Maria de los Angeles during a World Cafe session, at the Organizational Development Summit in 2005. I had later the chance to meet wonderful people in the Global Stewards Dialogue in San Francisco.

Regards,

What a wonderful beginning.....

How many of you were there?  What sort of transformative stories emerged from your introductions?  I would love to know if the World Café was part of their "incident"!
