Linkedin: Where Social Media & the World Cafe Meet

I've been watching the story of Social Media evolve for a while now and have noticed a unique characteristic about where the community of World Cafe practitioners and Social Media intersect: Linkedin. For many communities Linkedin is not the place for thriving community conversation ... but that's not so with the World Cafe!

Here's a little glimpse into one of the most recent conversations taking place in The World Cafe Linkedin Group:

From the World Cafe: We’re wondering ... do you have any hopes for the #WorldCafe in 2012?

Deborah Goldblatt • My hope for 2012 is to experience social technologies like Art of Hosting, Presencing, Appreciative Inquiry and others collaborating with the World Cafe in unprecedented and practical ways so together we can open, encourage, enliven and empower our human capacity to thrive. I'd love to hear what your hopes are or might be for the World Cafe in 2012.

Dorothy O'Beirne • During 2012 I would like to see more communication regarding We Are Wiser Together multi-generational collaboration.

Juanita Brown • I share both of those hopes above, and look forward to many opportunities for the World Cafe to help nurture exciting collaborations among practitioners of our various communities --- accessing the jardin central, the "central garden" of our common work.

Marco Valente • My hope is that 2012 be the "year of the unreasonable". Where unreasonable wins may take place! :) I have experienced during 2011 the "love" component of world cafe's and circles, sharing vulnerabilities and experiencing the great power to heal the divided and reconcile and bring unity. I am personally willing to explore the "power" aspect of the social technologies during 2012. Inspired by the 1000 table conversations in Israel, (definitely a highlight!) how can we scale up AOH conversation styles?

Roberta Faulhaber • I second Deborah Goldblatt! It would be great for all these incredible ways of getting people talking together could do the same among themselves.
Also would like to learn more about sound and voice in nurturing good conversations at world cafés everywhere.

Charlotte Denny Henley • My hope for World Cafe is the powerful connections facilitated through conversation. I will use World Cafe, one conversation at a time, to expand people's concept of what makes them whole.
