The World Cafe Community

Hosting Conversations about Questions that Matter

One week ago around 20 people from Denmark, England, Tel Aviv and the US gathered on their phones for our second Community Café this year - hosted by Amy and me :)
(You can see the harvest from the first Café in February here.)

Since we had a quite diverse discussion around the theme for this Café beforehand in the Inquiry Circle group Amy and me decided to try a new approach and condense what we heard there into four different themes and prepare three Café-questions for each of them in order to offer this to the people on the phone and let them vote on their favorite!
The theme we then collectively decided on was one that we based upon Ursel's contribution in the Inquiry Circle group:

"What local community initiatives are you part of and what meaning do you find in this or other online communities?"

In exploring this theme we went through three rounds of World Café going from the local to the trans-local communities and finally inquiring into the potential of weaving those two levels.
We had a great graphical recorder with us - Lori Rock from changefront.net was so kind to offer her time and skills to record the harvesting part of the Café graphically! Lori warmly invited participants to doodle during the breakout-sessions and the final harvest and send their drawings to her to get included in her graphical recording. So here is the banner she created on a huge paper in her office. Please click on the picture to open a full-resolution version so that you can discover all the juicy details :)

Interested in joining next time? I find it to be a really fantastic experience! Next chance is on April 8th, you are warmly welcome to register and join in for free (only your phone-costs).
And on April 1st is the first session in the "Conversations for the 21st Century", hosted by Amy and Ben with the theme of "Community for the 21st Century". I am very much looking forward to that :)

Thank you Juanita - I love to draw! As a visual learner myself, it helps me absorb information on a different level.
