Hi harvesters
You are hereby cordially invited to a training in graphic recording and strategic harvesting in London May 8-9. It is run by Nick Payne and myself, so come along, learn and have fun with us.

See the event detail and full invitation here.

And if you have any questions just drop me a line.

Thanks for all the wonderful offers of support for the World Cafe in Second Life last Friday - and a BIG Thank you to Andrea Medina, who was able to be there and produced some wonderful images for the group. You can see her images in the little story/report I wrote.

Amy, I would love to experiment with this. You can contact me with the details (time and some practicalities).

Amy, what time would that be? Doable when in CET?

Oh! Forgot to mention that you don't need to be in Second Life to harvest the Cafe, since we will be using a conference call for the audio, but if you do want to be present in Second Life and just need a little support, I will gladly support you.

Quick Note to all you Fabulous Visual Practitioners to say that the World Cafe learning program in Second Life has been postponed to Friday the 19th of March - and I am in dire need of a graphic listener to be part of the World Cafe that will ground the learning program (since the phenomenal Andrea & Fernanda - who'd volunteered for the first one - will not be available for the re-scheduled date).

There isn't going to be much $$ but I will gladly share what there is with you. Contact me if you are interested.

Echoing a bit Amy, I would love that we start different threads of conversations to be able to capture our learnings like in different 'folders' instead of this long list... (just click on Start Conversation, right above Comment Wall)

Hello Beauties!

It's so exciting to see how much energy is happening here in this group... It would be great to see some of the stories/harvests posted in the StoryNet, too, so others outside the group can experience them!

I'm writing right now, however, because as some of you might have noticed, we are offering an all-day Learning Program in Second Life later this month (Feb 25th, 8am - 2pm PST). It is being produced by an online conference company and I'll be introducing the basics of hosting World Cafe in a virtual environment (85% of which will of course apply to hosting World Cafe anywhere), and I would very much like this workshop to illustrate how important graphic recording is to the World Cafe process.

I'm wondering if there are any graphic listeners/recorders in the group that are already comfortable in Second Life who would like to work with me on this? If so, please contact me directly: [email protected], and we can work out the details.

There will be another opportunity to practice graphic recording in a virtual environment this week when we host a World Cafe after a Virtually Speaking interview with the Biomimicry author Janine Benyus in Second Life. More details & SLurl (exact location in SL) in the calendar listing linked above.

Re Kelvy Bird's comment, "the design of the cafe has built in time to capture harvest at each round - it actually felt quite spacious," people often tell me after a cafe that they wish there was more time allowed for the table harvest sharing before moving into the next inquiry. At the Diversity Forum Cafe last month most people felt the lack of time. Unfortunately some supplies at the facility were missing which delayed set up and the Sr. VP was late, pushing our start back by 40 minutes, thereby crunching each inquiry time into 20 minutes instead of 30. Nevertheless, the overall reviews -- out of a 1 to 5 rating with 5 being outstanding and 1 being poor -- put the cafe at 4.58 overall, 4.64 for the questions, 4.62 for the format and 4.64 for the facilitation. The discussion here is making me think of adding another evaluation question something like, "How well did the harvesting serve moving this issue/topic forward?" or "How did the harvesting inspire you to take action?" What do you think?

Folks, if I am posting these images in the wrong place, please tellme. I am still trying to find my way around this new TWC site. I welcome your tips for making the captures more meaningful and visually interesting. Thank you!

I discovered that the "parking lot" capture from the Diversity Forum Cafae I hosted last month was tossed before it was photographed. Here are 2 pages of notes I took from a session I did with a business unit at the University of California.
