Hi all!
We've been busy working on a new online World Cafe series called Conversations for the 21st Century, which will be free and open to the public. We'll schedule one every month or so, and each session will address a range of topics pertinent to life in the 21st century...
Ben Roberts and I will be co-hosting the series using MaestroConference, and the first event is this coming Friday, on the topic of community: Community in the 21st Century. Check the calendar listing for details and the link to register...please consider being there! Our conversation starters will be Peter Block, our own Nancy White, and Sarah Whiteley and Maria Scordialos from Axladitsa in Greece.
Upcoming sessions will be on topics like Economics for the 21st Century, Food Production in the 21st Century, Art in the 21st Century, etc. and I know there are many among us who would be willing to step into leadership roles and be conversation starters and active participants in the events that speak to your particular interests.
I've just started a group here to drive interest from the public conversations back into our community, and it would be great if those of you who are "old hands" would help create the hospitable space for inquiry there. Hopefully we will be getting a lot of new people engaged through the series. It already promises to be very well attended.
Besides being a great opportunity for civic engagement, this series will also launch the new World Cafe Online Services provided by weDialogue and benefit the World Cafe Community Foundation through participant donations.
I'm excited by the possibilities and hope you will be there to play with us - either at this one or an upcoming event.
Kindest regards to you and your family, Amy.
Kathleen
My sincere apologies to those of you who were registered for January's online Community Cafe which had to be canceled because of my sister's unexpected death.
About a dozen people who hadn't heard about the cancellation showed up anyway and we had a lively conversation with perspectives from the US, England and Belgium.
The February Cafe is now scheduled for Feb 3rd, with more details on the calendar listing (including the registration link - don't forget you have to register to get your call in numbers).
I hope that those of you who are here in this group because you're interested in how we bring the elements and practices of face to face World Cafe hosting into the online environment will make a special effort to be there.
As always, your ideas re topic and questions for the community Cafe are very welcome. Please post them in the Inquiry Circle group.
Warmly,
Amy
Welcome Kazuaki! Welcome Debbie! Welcome Mario!
I'd love to hear what you would like to see happening here in this group...
As we continue to offer online Community Cafes, and are gearing up to offer a series of online public conversations in 2011, I'd like to ask everyone that question again - how do you want to participate? What draws you to this group? What would you most like to receive from your presence here?
