Hello Ank,
I just happened to look at this group and saw your wonderful contribution. Even though the World Cafe was born in our living room, I'm very new to the on-line world--even though I do know how critical it is (look at this wonderful global community becoming visible to itself and reaching out to eachother!)...and I'm very grateful for your participation. I hope you and Amy Lenzo, our global communications coordinator can be in touch regarding ways you can contribute your knowledge and expertise to help this community grow and nourish itself and others whose lives it touches.
With warm regards and best wishes,
Juanita

Hi every body

I briefly want to introduce myself, Synthetron and share some learning for online conversations with a purpose.

Based in Brussels, mother of two boys, having had many years international career.. I am since more then 5 years of my professional life , focusing on collaborative conversations for groups online. I cofounded Synthetron, where we developed the social brainstorm tool for large groups to think together and grasp the essence of what many think or believe and why.

The methodology of moderating a large groups effectively so to generate an useful collaborative outcome, has over the years been inspired by a.o. world café and appreciative inquiry. .. That is why I have been following your activities and ideas. Now that the world café is looking for online ways of supporting their process, I feel it appropriate to share my over 5 years experience in this.

The Synthetron online social brainstorm tool is based on an unique evolutionary chat based discussion process: Ideas that participants write and validate anonymously and real time in the discussion migrate from their initial subgroups to more and more participants so long as they keep getting support… a kind of orchestrated Darwinian struggle of survival of ideas.

Synthetron build experience is with large group of people “within” large companies GO/NGO as synthetrons “outside”, with customers, citizens, members, stakeholders, readers.

Some of the learning’s yopu may be interested is
• that you have to focus while preparing your questions on what type of process you are supporting. (from a pure Thinking Tank process, to Scoping Issues, Checking Alignment or Sensing Progress at different moments during a change implementation).
• that one has to keep in mind the tone of questions in function of the desired outcome: are we looking more for ideas and reflections or for opinions and feelings.
• Thirdly online has many advantages, scalability, no travel, a real peer instantly rewarding experience, but almost most importantly it is far more productive, since all can work (think, tell, react and validate) in parallel and collaborative filter the real relevant arguments out of the discussion (without time or top of the list bias)
• Making people balance their energy between thinking, telling and listening is also during online brainstorms a challenge for the moderator.

For more info on Synthetron, demo, contact details and or white paper “Learn to Listen and Listen to Learn” go to www.synthetron.com

Hello Martin,

This is very exciting! Thanks for reaching out to the Mindmeister CEO - what a great idea for a mutually generative partnership.

Amy, how we might proceed? If there is anything I can do do help, I'm available for the next week.

Warm wishes from partly cloudy and hot Phoenix,
Christine

Hello to all,

in TWC Blogs, chats and other tools are used. Unfortunately, none who corresponds to the setting of a WorldCafé vituall and visually. I have found a tool, "Mindmeister", that offers all conditions to host cafes online.

It is designed to connect people like the idea of WC. The results of each table (groups) can be distributed to other.
I think with this software WC get the chance to enlarge the possibilities in the cyberspace.
The CEO of the software company has agreed to make this software available for WC.
My initial mail:
My personal idea is:

Your Company give the community "WorldCafé" as "a reference"
the possibility to use Mindmeister fully and free of charge. At the same time the community acts as "a software tester". Because here IDEAS AND KNOW are traded, WorldCafé is certainly also a good "supplier" for possible "enlargements" of your software.

A cost-free, worldwide advertising, with the view of a huge number
of the most different testers speaks as a possibility for himself.

I am pleased if I have strewn a seed with my idea combined your "vision" and the of WorldCafè to be fruitful .

I'm pleased about your answer.

Here a part of his mail.

...
We would support the WorldCafé with pleasure.

Please, suggest how we should continue in this direction / to whom the licence is to be made available.

Now I am searching for WC-Member implementing this wonderful software into the site of WC.

This sounds interesting to me. I work with groups in several states that host local cafes, and I dream about having all these group in a large cyber-cafe.
