I have a number of hats.

I have a design company called ARC Design. I believe that a sustainable community is best served by acting and trading locally.
The cornerstone at ARC Design is to increase the development of the community by using local resources in our design projects. ARC is an acronym for Art, Resource and Craft. In the spirit of the British Arts and Crafts movement in Victorian England, we have nurtured relationships with local artisans in a networked guild, and we encourage collaboration in the design and building process. Arts and craft have been central to humanity for millennium. The thread of those crafts connects us to our histories and to our cultural and regional diversity.

I am a founding member of Living Guild. Living Guild is a consortium of professionals focused on incorporating different fields and skills to work on Positive Development and building projects large and small. The vision of Living Guild is to bring social, economic and ecological value to any project using Living-systems principals that enrich the development, the community and the environment.

I have a blog in which I share design resources.

I am planning on hosting World Cafe conversations to encourage people participation in the future of our local communities.
What would you most like to receive from this community?

Hi Julian,

I'm sorry, I don't actually have a good lead for you in the north bay. Probably your best bet is to inquire in the Art of Harvesting group here, and/or in the Needs and Exchange thread, or on an IFVP forum.

Julian - I saw your note in the "chat" here, but alas too late. If you'd like to have a brief phone or Skype call, or a written chat if you prefer, just let me know. The best way to reach me is probably by email: amy at

Hi Julian, I just got your message in the Permaculture group. Can you please repost it on the comment wall, or as a discussion thread? Then I'll replay and that way we can have this conversation in public.... which I am sure will generate more energy. Peace, David

Hi Julian,

I'm not sure if I know who you are but I recognize your name. Do you live in Windsor? Did you recently attend a meeting in the Town Council chambers? If so then I know exactly who you are!
