Hosting Conversations about Questions that Matter

World Cafe Inquiry Circle

Information

This group has been formed to host a monthly community conversation on an issue that effects us all - each month the question will change. We'll also be hosting regular virtual World Cafes to take our explorations further (see calendar)

The Invitation...

We warmly invite you to join in monthly conversations here to refresh and enliven our World Cafe online community;  connect with new friends, exchange juicy insights, inspire and get inspired by others – let’s share our dreams for the future!

Each month, we will host a new question that is chosen for its meaning to all World Cafe participants, hosts, and friends, no matter who or where you are.  Our desire is to stimulate new ways of thinking about how together we can share a vision for the future, and offer fresh ideas and perspectives in how to make this happen in our communities. We’ll be holding regular World Cafés to take these explorations further and bring in the new people in this community who may not have experienced a World Café before (see the calendar listings for more details). We hope you’ll want to play!

Yes, I love these themes!

Several of the topics you've identified (Economics, Poverty, Food/Agriculture) are going to be the focus for individual events in a series of free public conversations World Cafe partner weDialogues is hosting in 2011. I'm excited about this and will tell you more about these events later, but coming back to the topic of our next Community Cafe (in March), let me start a conversation thread here focused on that and move over your ideas, Wilfried and Ria.

and what has ending poverty to do with the production of food, our own relationship with food and the land; and then what have World Café practitioners to do with that?
Wilfried Fink Comment by Wilfried Fink on February 3, 2011 at 3:22pm

End poverty

Wouldn´t that be a brilliant theme for one of the next WC?!

Hello, All, I have just joined this group and need clarification on the "calendar" mentioned in the above invitation. I didn't see anything at the Menu Bar 'Calendar' that relates to this group, at least it didn't seem to... Thanks.

How about something relating to embracing abundance/possibility as opposed to scarcity/fear?
Amy Lenzo Comment by Amy Lenzo on November 16, 2010 at 10:52am
Yes! Please do suggest a topic, Kelly, and/or anyone else who is called.
Perhaps it's time for another online Community Cafe, too...

Maybe you have an idea for the conversation, Kelly?

Hi All - I'm new to this group and very much looking forward to participating and contributing. Is there a topic planned for Nov/Dec?
Best,
Kelly

Tribe is HUGE! We are tribal in our DNA--in our psychic wiring. The metaphor of walking away/toward one another is interesting. Suggests it could take a LONG time to meet face to face, no?!
Todd Ramage Wolf Comment by Todd Ramage Wolf on May 20, 2010 at 6:28am
Two people, back to back in orientation, standing on the same parallel on this earth, take their first step forward. In the short term they appear to be walking away from each other. But are they? Time will tell, or at least make it apparent that in fact they are walking toward each other. What if they were made aware of this fact before they started the journey? Would they still take that first step? What would be the determining factors in making their decision?

Does “us” realize that to “them” ... they (us) are “them” to “us” (them) and “them” is us? If tribes are a construct, or belief, and belief creates a fiat reality (perceptions become the perception of reality), then wouldn’t it be wise to ask what are the properties of a tribe; what is the purpose of a tribe; is it a product of nature or culture?
