Comment by juanita brown on November 8, 2013 at 4:01pm Wonderful Ria! The World Cafe community and the Art of Hosting community are dear brothers and sisters in the same family....it would be great if Caroline Rennie or others could be of support to your practice and I'll think of others in Switzerland as well.
Fond regards,
Juanita
Comment by Ria Baeck on November 8, 2013 at 2:54pm Hello Lorraine,
I read that you live in Basel, Switserland. Do you know there is a group of people that is offering and practicing Art of Hosting? You would need to find Caroline Rennie (who might be a member of this site too, I didn't check); and for offerings in Bregenz, you can google Bregenzer Salon and you will find an email to contact Ursula Hillbrand (maybe also on this site?). That will connect you with good people over there; they might know about opportunities for you to practice.
With love,
Ria
Comment by juanita brown on November 8, 2013 at 1:54pm Great to know you are in the course! And my heart is smiling to know that you are finding resonance with this work and the community. Re: practice opportunities--where are you located?
Kind regards,
Juanita
Comment by Lorraine Rytz-Thériault on November 4, 2013 at 3:45pm Hello Juanita
It is so kind of you welcome me and to take the time to respond to my inquiry.
I am presently in the HWCF course and was pointed to this group. Amy Lenzo and Bo Gyllenpalm are/have a wealth of experience, which made me curious as to what other resources, events, forums, etc. exist in this facinating World Café community. I have checked out both the IFVP and AoH sites you suggested and found them to be rich with offerings - thank you.
Basicly, the more I learn about WC the more I am inspired to become engaged with the practice and the community. I have only just begun to scratch the surface and already feel at home and at peace (my heart is smiling).
I am eager to broaden and deepen my understanding, and to find opportunities to practice what I am learning. Some people learn academicly, I definately am the hands-on sort that learns best thru action. My first question would be: Is there a way for we 'newbies' to gain experience thru staffing/volunteering at WC events, or working with Mentors as we also attempt to organize WCs in our local areas?
with many thanks,
Lorraine
Comment by Lorraine Rytz-Thériault on November 4, 2013 at 3:13pm Hello Sabine
The Bregenzer workshop sounds amazing. I wouldn't be able to attend this December, but would like to be kept informed of further offerings. Especially if you are doing anything in Switzerland (I live in Basel).
Many thanks for sending the link, and fingers crossed that I can attend something similar in future. It would need to be in English for me to get optimal benefit.
Kind regards, Lorraine
Comment by Lorraine Rytz-Thériault on November 4, 2013 at 2:21pm Hello Chris
Thanks for pointing to your book; it's now ordered and I am eagerly awaiting its arrival. Hmmm, from 'intimidation to can do' should be an enlightening read!
many thanks, Lorraine
Hello Lorraine and Florence - welcome to the cafe community and to the art of harvesting. Would love to hear more about your self-training and how people like me, Sabine and others who have been doing this work for a while can support your learning and action! I also recently finished a book about strategies and pictures called Picture Your Business Strategy (www.pictureyourstrategy.com) where great conversations with Juanita and other world cafe colleagues are featured. I have had several colleagues in Europe buy the book, so I know its available there - but you might find it useful and if nothing else - its in pictures so its fun to read!
Welcome - Chris
Comment by Florence Hardy on October 27, 2013 at 9:29am Hello everyone,
I'm litterally following my course mate Lorraine into this group.
I am too into the Fielding WC course. Regarding harvesting, I am brand new to this practice.
I have recently trained myself in graphic recording/sketch noting, and I find it very pleasurable.
I am planning to discover this group and post thereafter anything that I feel relevant.
Greetings to all
Florence
(Paris-France)
A warm invitation to join us at an inquiry around the dance between hosting and harvesting in Bregenz in December 2013. The workshop will be in German and English. http://www.bregenzersalon.eu/info/Home_files/BS%20AoH%20Training%20...
Comment by juanita brown on October 25, 2013 at 4:12pm Hi Lorraine...
I haven´t been part of the conversations on this group, so I´m not sure what is unfolding in this space. You can also enter harvesting conversations through the International Forum of Visual Practitioners IFVP.org as well as through the listserve of the Art of Hosting.
Welcome to the World Cafe community as well....what questions are you wanting to explore as you get started? Can you tell us a little more?
With warm regards,
Juanita
