La Vonna,
You're welcome! I'm happy to help.
Blogs can certainly include personal conversation - I was just letting you know that we also have a place for community conversation so if you have questions or are wondering about something…
Thanks Amy, for the excellent and informative response about blogging. It was the best information I have gotten about blogs and their purpose.
I do understand that you are telling me that personal conversation is not blogging, so I will make…
Happy Holidays LaVonna! Actually, I am so busy (this is not new news) with my growing business and I am taking classes myself, that I have not been able to get into the holiday mood yet.
Final exams this coming week (17 of 17 weeks), and then I can…
Hi LaVonna.
Thanks for your question! :-) It's a great opportunity for me to point out the difference between a conversation (which is really what you've started here) and a blog.
I'll quote from the "FAQs" page on this…
Hi Nancy, I'd love to see your blog site. I have seen blogs but don't really quite understand what they are all about. I am well, thanks for asking. I just completed a three month long project (research project) and am now able to resume…
Hi LaVonna, perhaps we can communicate here. I have a blog site for
The Confident Communicator™ Workshops. Let me know if you want the site address.
How are you? ~ Nancy
Hi Cafe Community,I've never "blogged" before and was wondering if someone could tell me what blogging is. I know, I know... what rock have I been under... just humor me a little. Thanks,LaVonnaSee More
Hi Ellia,
Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate the support because I'm really AM going to host a cafe, and my small conservative community will think it is a little odd at first. Then they are going to love it and I'm going to…
Hi Ella,
Welcome! And we'll be at the Systems Thinking in Action conference up in Seattle from Nov. 1-4. On Nov. 2 we'll be hosting a World Cafe reception and no host dinner at the hotel starting at 6PM-7:30PM in the Grand Crescent room…
Hi LaVonna,
I host local public conversations in Seattle (see separate post coming out soon). I was further inspired (I'd been wanting to do this for some time) by Margaret Wheatley's book "Turning to One Another" which has…
Thank you John. Your offer of support means more to me than you can imagine. I will definately come back and engage when I'm ready to continue planning those GREAT CONVERSATIONS in my little town.
LaVonna
LaVonna, keep that "jumping up and down" going in your heart and when you are ready to host your cafe just reach out and there are lots of of who would love to give you support. Take care and good luck on your project.
John
Hi John,
Thanks so much for asking. Back in August I had time to plan a conversation in my community, but was a bit under-confident. Then I started working on a research project that has gone over its planned timeline, so I currently have no time…
Hi John,
I agree with Briana, this post is really helpful. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I have not moved my cafe plans forward yet. When I do, I'll probably have questions. I will be sure to log on to my new online community of…

I'm New to the World Cafe
In what field is the primary focus of your World Café work?
Community
What knowledge, skills or resources would you like to contribute to the World Café community to help it grow and flourish?
This is a hard one to answer for me since I am joining to learn. I am a recently graduated MSW, and I have lots of knowledge on building better workforces, organizations and communities. I am well-versed in the Consensus Organizing model. I am a voracious learner and have more knowledge than experience. NOW I'm looking to DO all that I have learned.
What would you most like to receive from this community?
I'm ready to host a Cafe in my community. My community NEEDS to come together, I think the cafe process is just the tool that can make that happen. I would like advice and guidance as I launch out for my first Cafe, so I can build enough confidence to do it again on my own (and teach others how to host cafes).
I have connected with a person who can help me in my process, but he is out of town for the month of August, and has limited email access during that time. I, specifically, would like to apply for funding to cover whatever costs are associated with hosting a cafe. I need help figuring out what costs might be associated. The book does not go into detail about that.
I've never "blogged" before and was wondering if someone could tell me what blogging is. I know, I know... what rock have I been under... just humor me a little.
I'm READY to host my first Conversation Cafe around the topic of transportation in my community. I've read the World Cafe book and now I need a little advice and guidance to support me in my planning process.
If you appreciate the World Café and what this community space makes possible, please make your contribution - large or small - to the World Café Community Foundation now.
