I'm the executive director of a national nonprofit network called the National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation (NCDD).  NCDD represents 1,800 organizations and individuals (facilitators, consultants, nonprofit leaders, public administrators, university professors, students, etc.) who bring people together across political and ethnic divides to discuss contentious issues and move to agreement and action when possible. Since 2002, NCDD has served as a hub, a resource clearinghouse, a convenor, and a facilitative leader for this growing community of practice. The NCDD website is home to thousands of resources, news posts and timely opportunities to help our members and others engage citizens across divides. More details on NCDD's activities can be found at I'm also working closely with the Kettering Foundation, and currently serving as a Research Deputy with Kettering.

I just mentioned the World Cafe Online Community on a call with someone doing Veteran-Civilian Dialogues.  They're looking to help their participants continue relationships over time using online technology, and I mentioned this community as a shining example of an online community that works!

I wanted to make sure folks in the World Cafe community know about something new NCDD is trying.  I welcome you to participate!

The National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation (NCDD) is known for being an open community of innovators who are genuinely interested in working together to increase the impact of dialogue and deliberation.  Today I’d like to announce a new feature on the NCDD website that I hope will make it easier for NCDDers to collaborate:  the “Idea…

Advice on where to buy tablecloths for World Cafe?

Posted on November 8, 2010 at 12:44pm 5 Comments

I’d like to try to tap into the wonderful network here to find out where people recommend buying tablecloths for World Cafe-style dialogue — and what type of tablecloths you recommend (fabric, paper, color, etc.). For the regional NCDD event in Portland this weekend, we are holding an evening World Cafe on Friday that is open to the public. Then we’ll be holding our one-day Cascadia Conference on Dialogue & Deliberation all day on Saturday. So we’ll need to use the tablecloths both… Continue

HI Sandy,
Welcome from me too! Did you get the email I sent you a while back seeing if we might connect in a phone visit? There are a number of things I want to let you know about that are still unfolding....where NCDD might play a key role.
I'm back in California from August 20-September 9-- what does your week look like for a call that first week of September?
Fond regards,
