Happy New Year to all - I wanted to let you know of an upcoming Bay Area Society of Organizational Learning gathering that might peak your interest...

Leadership, Learning & Light: Lessons from Festivals
Roosevelt Finlayson, Creative Collaborator and Co-Developer of the Festival in the Workplace Process (TM)
Friday, Jan 21, 2011

Join us for a day of learning and fun as we engage in an exploratory dialogue that will help you develop the opportunities and manage the challenges of leading in a self organizing, creative community.

Roosevelt will highlight insights developed from his study of festivals, including the Brazil and Trinidad Carnivals and The Bahamas Junkanoo Festival. These insights have been shaped by what he has seen while looking through the lens of the organizational scientist, the festival designer and performer, the anthropologist and the positive psychologist.

Participants will be invited to share, in a narrative style, a powerful experience they have had as a participant in a festival experience. Self organizing into festival groups, your group will develop a theme, design a banner, and decorate headpieces for a festival performance.

Each group will join in a festival performance that will bring the day to a fitting climax. Participants are welcome to bring improvised or actual musical instruments for this performance.

Intended Outcomes: Roosevelt will stimulate and challenge participants to become open to seeing new possibilities of how we can more effectively collaborate, create and learn in our workplaces.

747 Front Street
, 3rd Floor

Every Sunday morning at 9am, the historic Red Victorian Bed and Breakfast hosts a free Peaceful World Conversation- open to everyone. The conversations are an opportunity for San Franciscans and travelers alike to get together and share stories of our lives and the lessons we've learned, make new friendships, and engage in open dialogue. We hope to continue building a global network of travelers and conversationalists committed to doing good for the world and each other.

WHERE: The Red Victorian B+B at 1665 Haight Street, San Francisco, CA

WHEN: Every Sunday morning at 9am (usually until 10:30am, at which time the conversation 'closes' but participants are welcome to stay and chat as long as they like)

Hope to see you soon! Peace.
