Jayashree - NCDD (the National Coalition for Dialogue & Deliberation, which I direct), has a listserv for our Northern California-based members. Most are experience facilitators, many with World Cafe experience. If you send me an announcement about what you're looking for, when, how people can reach you, etc., I'd be happy to send it to that list. Just email me your announcement to [email protected].

Hi Jayashree - I am away on vacation right now and checking in periodically. I had one graduate of the SSU Program respond to say they may be able to help you out - her name is Pankti Clerk. If you would like to connect with her, please send me your email address (you can contact me at [email protected] ) and I'll connect the two of you. warmly, Andrea

Andrea - I have a few thoughts on how to facilitate this event based on my experience of six sigma and what i read in worldcafe. I was wondering if I can call you sometime to share my thoughts on the process that can be used in our community. Will you have sometime to discuss please ? I leave for India in 2 weeks and hence have time constraints!

Goal - Improve community engagement. Make this the best place for the community to live. or take the quality of living here to next level of maturity.

Here are some options in my mind:

Option 1 - I was wondering if there is a way to collect the challenges of living in our community before the event thru google document . (Basically send a google document to the community using the community distribution list). So the pain points are gathered in advance and we use the cafe event to think thru solutions. At the end agree on forums for each initiative led by a committed person. Later meet regularly to deep dive planning improvements in those areas.

Option 2 - Get the folks together and let them agree on the vision of a matured community. Open ended question.

Option 3 - Use google doc plus facebook before event for challenges and opportunity gathering. Spend again 30 min to share the categorized areas of challenges and then spend an hour on solutions. End break out into smaller forums.

What do you suggest pls.

Sounds like a wonderful setting for a cafe, Jayashree. I will also share your request for an experienced facilitator with the graduates of the Sonoma State OD program - there are several graduates of the program that have experience and / or would like more experience facilitating world cafes. warmly, Andrea

Dear WC Members - I am a new member of Worldcafe. I am hosting my networking event in my area (Windemere, a town in San Ramon) on the principles of WorldCafe in a park with the goal to improve the community engagement. As I would not like to spend a lot of money in renting a community hall, I picked a park. This is my first fund raising networking event for my Charity. All donations will go to improve the underfunded school in India.

Are there any experienced facilitators in the bay area, who would like to facilitate this event planned for Aug 26th @ 7:30 am pls. San Ramon Mayor has shown interest in the event and is coming too!

Thanks

jayashree
