Hello! I am part of the NYC Art of Hosting Community of Practice. Looking forward to being in co-learning with the World Cafe community here too!

Hi David, Hi Jane, Yes, the listening itself, the deliciousness of the field that arises, this itself creates a learning vessel that is indeed seaworthy. I have worked this way for many years, and find that the "what" that is accomplished is an expansion of who we think we are, individually and collectively. And if this expands, so does the how and what of we can accomplish. And, I would love to join in!

David...Howdy and welcome to the East. I'm chewing on your question trying to get its full texture. One thing I know, having learned it from my many years in the IONS community, is that exploring questions of this sort almost invariable leads to juicy surprises. These quite naturally bring up more questions, so on it goes.
For me, being in the WC conversation field means having the opportunity to hang out with young people here in the NYC Metro area and hear what's on their minds. I consider that a priviledge. What's best is when I can bring together a mixture--age, culture, interests--of folks into conversation, listening to one another. That the best. If you and Juanita will come to NYC this Fall, we'll organize one and throw you into the mix so you'll feel right at home.

Hi... to all of the gifted people here at Cafe NY Metro! I lived in NY Metro area for 11 years... so feel part of you from that experience.
would love to see y'all ( we're now in Western North Carolina) having a conversation in this space.. so, i'll suggest a question:
What is now possible to accomplish or learn by being in ongoing conversation in this practice field? or maybe someone has a better question?
with respect to y'all!

Thanks for the invitation, Don. This looks exciting and I'll do my best to schedule it in. Meanwhile, if anyone else is doing a World Cafe training event before Nov. 13th, please keep me posted. Warmly, Hafeezah

Good morning!
Just to let you know that I will be presenting a day-long World Café training session for the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association at its headquarters in Monroe, NJ (just of 8A on the NJ Turnpike). While it will focus on using the Café protocol for schools (faculty meetings, classroom instruction, parents & community gatherings, etc.) the invitation goes out to any interested individuals who want to learn more about the World Café. I'll also touch on the importance of visual recording, Theory U, and crafting Café questions. Breakfast and lunch included in the workshop fee. Here's the link to the official announcement and registration . . . http://www.featraining.org/documents/pdf/WorldCafe2.pdf

Hi Pamela,

Thanks for your posting. My contacts from the UN were related to Appreciative Inquiry and they have on. I'm not familiar with Network for Peace Through Dialog. Please invite Peggy Ray to join our World Cafe Community, and Cafe New York Metro.

Please share what your internship at the UN will entail. How can those of us in NYC enhance the experience for you?

Thanks,

Loretta

Is anyone in this group in contact with: Peggy Ray of the Network for Peace Through Dialog ([email protected])? If not, you should reach out to her (and the people additionally named below). I am mostly in transit so I thought I'd pass along the tip!

Hi Jane! It's Hafeezah, and I'm part of this group, too. I've been asking for opportunities to get WC training and/or get invited to events. Miss your face! Do stay in touch!!! hugs, Hafeezah

I'm happy to be part of this NYC Metro WC group. I have been hosting WC sessions here for a number of years ranging in size from 12 to 700. The process never fails to generate creative energy and often abiding commitment to change. I also enjoy training others to be hosts. I have a vision of WC becoming the dialogic method of choice for New Yorkers, replacing the more familiar in-your-face confronting style of verbal exchange that this city is so famous for.
