Hi Laurie, I'm new to the Stammtisch concept too, but it seemed like the right idea for a the type of gathering I'm interested in. My understanding it that it is a German concept meaning something akin to "regular's table".…

World Cafe Victoria, BC

In late October I hosted (with fantastic help from Kim Meredith) a group of 80 teachers in a World Cafe as part of the BC Teacher's for Peace and Global Education conference in Victoria, BC. The conference theme was "The Green Challenge: Environmental Sustainability and the Challenges for Canada". After a morning panel with speakers including Green Party Leader Elizabeth May, Irwin Blanca, Dr. Richard Kool and Dr. Frank Tester, the teachers moved into a flurry of conversation over lunch and…See More

Vancouver/Lower Mainland Stammtisch

Thumbnail
Hello all!I'd be very keen to convene a Stammtisch in the Vancouver area with other Cafe/Open Space/AoH practitioners. I'm not quite sure what this would look like, but I imagine it to be a casual sharing of experiences, questions, stories, resources or whatever else we can offer one another. If you're interested in joining me, please send a message and we'll go from there.A Stammtish is German concept meaning something akin to a "regular's table". So if you're interested in meeting regularly,…See More

Sharing The World Cafe (and finding new clients to share it with!)

Posted on August 24, 2009 at 4:01pm 2 Comments

As a budding entrepreneur committed to building a vibrant consulting practice, I am bursting with spaces and places that The World Cafe and other hosting methods can create magic. Without a steady client base, I'm working most days writing proposals and communicating with potential clients - with satisfactory success. I spend time envisioning all the wonderful people and groups I will encounter on my journey and am excited to experience as it all unfolds. Having said that, I would welcome wise… Continue

World Cafe & BC Teachers

Posted on August 10, 2009 at 11:35am 3 Comments

With excitement I share with you all that I will be hosting a World Cafe for a group of 75-100 educators from across British Columbia, Canada this October. This will be the first event I've hosted with a large group and it will take place in a school gymnasium/classrooms. Please share your stories with me about hosting your first large event - I would love the inspiration!

Hi Jenn,
How lovely to get your note. Yes, I'll be in Vancouver....at the C4C and other events related to the Dalai Lama's visit. My partner David, also co-founder of the World Cafe will also be there with a bit more flexibility since he is not in all the sessions....might you and he arrange to meet if the schedule is too tight for you and I? Are you going to any of the Dalai Lama events?
Warmest regards,
Juanita
